  Grooming experience- lack of professionalism/ training/ empathy I have been a Vital Care member for many years and have entrusted Petco with the grooming care of my 15.5-year-old dog for several years. Unfortunately, my most recent experience fell far short of the professionalism and clarity I expect from Petco. At the Cedar Park store, I signed all required forms and followed the established procedures for grooming, as I have done on previousoccasions. Despite this, the grooming was halted halfway through by the store manager, who stated that continuing was “not good” for my dog and referred vaguely to “company policy.” My dog’s body was shaved, but his face was left untouched, leaving the grooming incomplete and his appearance uneven and inconsistent with past services. Tuffy is a senior dog with bumps and cysts that pop up due to age and to ensure his comfort and well being as well as safety i dobook appointments only if there are no bumps on his body. At the timeof the drop off, I ensured I communicated the same with the stylist.I was charged approximately $65 for a job that was only partially completed, including tips, without clear explanation of the specificpolicy, risk, or concern that justified stopping the service. The communication I received from the manager lacked professionalism and clarity. As a loyal Vital Care customer, I expect transparent,respectful dialogue when decisions are made that affect my pet’s care, especially given his age and long history of grooming at Petco. The last time we dropped him for grooming, we had the same experience where it was halted half way and we received a call from the same manager. While he was respectful, he suggested I go to his previous place of employment and kept saying coroprate policy etc. I am not sure who will drop off a senior dog if the pet is unwell or anxious, that wasnt the case with me so I am not sure why they would stop the service and call. I was informed verbally that we are referring you out and I had to ask what does he mean by that!! I am not here asking for your staff to be reprimanded but a written communication with policy for a long term customer would be the least I can expect. The location seems to have lost its customers based on the reviews I see below, and there was no other pet when I visited to pick him up. I dont know if the manager does not want to keep his team busy? But it was odd. I have emailed and there is no way for me to communicate to corporate as their email addressess seem to not work. I am cancelling my vital care membership as its of no use for me now and I hope someone reads this and responds to me.

  Service is terrible, last groomer was not very patient with my dog and had to cancel my service which was supposed to be a bath and cut. Manager that contacted me came across as condescending, and was informed my dog and I were banned from this PETCO. To which I wanted to reply, I can always set an appointment with your competitor, Aka PET SMART, but I held back and didn’t say anything else.

  had a very disappointing experience with the grooming service at Petco Cedar Park. Before my dog’s appointment, I clearly told the groomer that I did not want his hair cut short and wanted to keep his coat length. The only area I asked to be trimmed short was around his eyes. Despite this, my dog was completely shaved in the name of removing mats, without discussing it with me first. The only mats area i agreed to was his belly. I was heartbroken when I picked him up. What upset me even more was the response from the manager. Instead of acknowledging my concerns, I was told I was only complaining to get a refund. That was never my intention—I simply wanted them to acknowledge that my instructions had been ignored. I also paid an extra $25 for a treatment that was supposed to make his coat shinier and help reduce tear stains, but even the next day the tear stains were still very noticeable (photo attached). If shaving was truly the only option, a quick phone call for my approval would have made all the difference. Better communication and listening to pet owners would have prevented this experience.

  Wonderful staff. Very kind and loving to the animals who are all so clean. The animals are so happy and healthy. The staff are so knowledgable and so helpful. There are so many fabulous animals and so many great products, They have everything you need.
