They care so much. I love coming here because they are always so thoughtful and accommodating both in the front desk as well as the doctors. Thanks for always being great with us!

The vets and vet techs were amazing with my anxious dog! Unfortunately my herding mix rescue is super anxious and does not like new people, but everyone gave him lots of treats and were very patient. They took proper bite precautions (they had a muzzle on hand) and were very calm and gentle with my dog. And explained what was going on to both me and him as they went with his wellness check up and vaccines. Will definitely be back!

Beware Dr. Bill Boyd! 6/15/26 I took my neutered 11 year old mixed breed 22 pound dog to Northwest Austin Veterinary Center. While the vet tech was kind and competent, Dr. Boyd began the examination of my dog by gripping his neck very tightly. He yelped and shrieked and reared up in terror. Dr. Boyd continued to squeeze his throat even tighter, with both hands. My dog was shrieking and crying and rearing up like I have never seen him do. Alarmed, I told the vet to stop what he was doing. He continued to choke my dog, and told me not to "react like that" and that he had to "show him who was boss." The vet tech tried to calm my dog. After the examination, my dog was bleeding from the outer corner of his right eye, enough that it was dripping down his face. I showed the vet tech, as I was concerned that Dr. Boyd had squeezed Charlie so tightly that he had caused internal bleeding. The vet tech looked at his eye and said that it looked like the cut was external, and perhaps he had gotten scratched during the examination. She apologized and said that the other veterinarians in that practice do not do that, but that Dr. Boyd is "old school" and still tries to subdue dogs with shows of dominance. It is unacceptable to use this discredited "method," and even more unacceptable to not stop hurting and terrifying my 11 year old dog when I told him to.

One of their vets named Bill Boyd strangled my family’s dog in an appointment today to “show him who’s boss”. My mother repeatedly asked him to stop, but he didn’t do so. This resulted in our elderly dog’s eye to start bleeding as he continuously yelped in agony. A veterinarian like this should NOT be allowed to work with animals. What he did today was animal abuse hidden behind outdated, toxic beliefs just to “assert his dominance” in a gross display of toxicity. This man should be fired and stripped of his licensure. Until that is done I do not recommend that anyone who cares about their pet comes here for services. I would give 0 stars if I could.

This review is purely based on their predatory marketing/intake and price gouging. We learned about this clinic from the Humane Society. Apparently they have some type of partnership or deal where the clinic gets the phone number of new adoptive pet owners and calls right away to “schedule their first free checkup and month of free care!” I felt like this tactic was a little aggressive and the vibe was off, and I wished I had listened to my gut. My experience proved my gut right. While the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, their charges are exorbitant. We went in for 3 vaccine shots each for 2 kittens, and the bill was $620. They charge about 5x market rate for every vaccination shot. As a new pet owner, I had no idea. The woman at the front desk is awesome and took sympathy when she saw my face drop. “I won’t be able to buy my kids new shoes this month,,” I lamented with a laugh. She recommended Emancipet for vaccines and non-emergency care. A few days after the shots, one of the kittens had an infection in the shot area so I took him back in for inspection. I stated that when the technicians were giving him the shot, he was squirmy and might have gotten accidentally punctured. I assumed they would cover the cost since it was immediately after the shot. The technician stated it looked like a wound from fighting with the other kitten (which I never witnessed) and they charged me another $180 for a shot and for the visit. To date, I’ve spent over $1250 for 4 visits: 2 rounds of shots, this puncture visit, and a parasite medication visit. I will be taking the advice of the front desk staff and going to Emancipet, and will also seek out a new veterinarian after researching their pricing and reviews. I feel completely robbed by this business. Go here if you are totally fine with throwing away your hard earned money into a total scam.
