When I first signed up, they told me that I was able to bring my dog in whenever especially if an unexpected illness came they made me sign up for almost $80 a month program and now that she is sick they're saying that it doesn't even cover that it's a scam. They only want your money i'm so upset. now I'm stuck paying over $700 for the rest of the year.

I’ve had banfield for my pets since about 2018. I think I would only recommend Banfield for smaller pets though since their pricing varies on size of the pet last time I remember. I have a boxer who I take to a different vet because she has more needs and is bigger and taking her elsewhere is friendlier for my pocket (especially because of how often we need to take to her to a vet).
But for my smaller dogs, I like Banfield’s services and I have honestly never had a problem with any of the staff. They are all friendly and nice 😋 Kindness goes a long way too though so you also gotta be nice 😳😳😳 hehehe
Anyway, as an example, the other week my dog woke up with his eye all nasty and I called Banfield and they were able to see my dog right away 🥹🥹🥹 and it was a Saturday and they’re usually super busy those days if you dont already have an appointment 🥹🥹🥹🥹
I bug them constantly nowadays because my dog is older and is on medications (I have called the front desk to ask questions am always spoken to with patience and understanding).
My dog is a chihuahua, I think I pay somewhere around 60-70$ a month for his plan (I think its OWP the one with the dental package) and I think it is worth the money.
I haven’t thought about exploring other insurance options yet so I can’t compare (my older dog doesn’t have insurance thats just always out of pocket at her vet or with care credit) but I can bring him in whenever I want for the most part, and get his vaccines covered, and dental is not as costly as it would be without the plan.
Some things are rather expensive though, such as medications because with my bigger dog at her vet, meds aren’t as expensive (think 75$ for 2 meds vs 200$ for 3 meds here at Banfield)
Overall though, their care is high quality, thoughtful, and amazing 😍😍
My dog used to growl at the vets when he was new to their practice but doesn’t do that anymore even though he hates going there so I think that can speak for him and how they treat him 😍😍😍
I don’t see myself cancelling at any time soon tbh so I would say it’s worth it if you want to get a plan, at least try it for the full year and see what’s up.
Photos of my dog when he got sick vs after taking all his meds :P

Our dog is usually treated at Banfield's Grand Prairie location on State Hwy 161 however, their blood work machine was down so they sent us to the Banfield on Merchants Row in Arlington. Big mistake.
Our dog was scheduled for a comprehensive exam and dental cleaning. I understand the need for anesthesia, but 5 shots & who knows what else?! On top of that, he was left in a cage his own feces & needed to be washed off when we picked him up.
Once home, our dog has been slow to eat, he usually sleeps thru the night but the first 2 nights he needed to go out 3x each night. It's now 5days later & he's just now getting back to normal & regaining his appetite.
We'll never take him to the Arlington Banfield again & wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
How do I pay for an Optimum Wellness Plan?
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
What kind of appointment do I have?
• In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
• Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
