This location used to be wonderful we went here from when they opened. The main staff is still nice. The last 1.5 years the veterinary care has declined. There are other locations in the area that are better suited for your pets care.

I was trying to ignore my terrible customer service experiences at Banfield Allen but today was the final straw. I brought my dog here because she has been suffering from a severe skin allergy. Dr. McSween prescribed Prednisone and Atopica for my dog. After she prescribed that, she kept pushing for me to get my dog’s dental cleaning done. I really didn’t care to get that done because the priority for me was making sure my dog’s skin allergy was resolved/maintained, so I pushed it off. Next the doctor recommended I get an x-ray for my dog because she has a heart murmur and she wanted to make sure the Prednisone wasn’t negatively affecting her. Once again she pushes the dental cleaning and says she also needs bloodwork so they can do the dental cleaning. I finally gave in to doing the dental cleaning since she wouldn’t stop mentioning it and it was covered in my dog’s plan. Before we did the x-ray and the bloodwork, my dog ran out of her Atopica medication. I went online to Chewy and ordered it. Days went by and Chewy hadn’t shipped my order because the doctor hadn’t approved. I called the clinic and the lady at the front told me she was sick. I asked her when the doctor would be back and she said hopefully tomorrow. So nobody was going to tell me the doctor wasn’t able to approve the prescription. They could have at least called or had somebody else approve it. I understand that she was sick, but so is my dog and they could have at least said something. They need to have a better system for situations like that. But anyways, I move on and I don’t say anything about it. We finally did the x-ray and the bloodwork. I got a call from someone to go over the bloodwork but the doctor had not called me about the x-ray. I want to say a week went by and she still had not called. I had to call the clinic myself to see what was going on. Whoever I spoke to (not the doctor), tried to go over it with me and I told them, I can see the results are normal but I paid extra money for this to be done and I have additional questions to ask her (since the whole point of doing this was to see if the steroid was affecting her heart). I told them the doctor needs to do her job and call. She finally called me, I asked my questions, and once again she starts pushing the dental cleaning. I told her I would check my schedule and see when I could bring my dog in. She told me what days she was in the clinic and that was the end of the call. She never said you HAVE to bring your dog in on one of these two days or you HAVE to call to book this appointment. All she said was I’m here these two days, let us know when you can bring her in. I also spoke to another person later that week and she told me Dr. McSween was in Friday and Saturday too and I told her I would book the appointment online. So to my surprise, I come in to drop my dog off Saturday morning and I’m told that I can’t get her dental cleaning done because I didn’t call to make her appointment. I also was never told that there would be anesthesia involved with the dental cleaning. I always get my dog’s teeth cleaned when she goes to grooming so it didn’t even cross my mind that it was a more invasive process. I don’t know the name of the guy that spoke to me but I also did not like his attitude. He kept saying “next time you have to call to make the appointment” and “she said she told you to come Wednesday”. No, she told me that she was in on Wednesday, she never told me I HAD to bring my dog in on Wednesday and she definitely did not say I had to call to make the appointment. Most of my dog’s appointments have been made in the Banfield app. They need to learn how to properly communicate with their patients here. I have been following all of the doctor’s orders and doing my part as the parent of my pet. The excuse that she’s not tech savvy is BS. She needs to learn how to communicate with her patients because all of these issues could have been prevented. So now, I’m taking my dog to another location. Thank you Taylor for being so kind and welcoming every time I have come into the clinic.
