I brought my cat in to the Banfield location in Hixson yesterday. He has not been eating well and has lost a lot of weight. This is the reason for the visit. The vet tech that greeted me was amazing. Things went downhill when the Dr. Dion came in. She examined my cat and as she was doing so stated “looks like you went to a cheap stray place to get him neutered” because he has an ear tip. When I found my cat I was a broke college student and did what I could to get him neutered so that’s why I took him there- not the point. Dr. Dion then went on to say she wasn’t going to have me sign up for the wellness plan because it is a year long subscription and she didn’t want me to have to pay for something if my cat was not around. She was insinuating that he was not going to make it. She took him back for testing then returned and plainly said “his liver isn’t working” I’ll be honest I don’t remember anything she said after that because I was in shock. She suggested I take him to the ER and get him checked out because he was in critical condition. So I gathered my things to leave and she told me hesitantly “I wouldn’t blame you if you had to make a hard decision” then, naturally, I started crying. So I walked out to pay and as I was paying Dr. Dion came out and tried to give the receptionist a coupon (which was appreciated) but I already had the coupon. Then Dr. Dion told me to calm down before I drove anywhere. After I balled my eyes out in my car, I took my cat to an emergency room and they have discovered that his liver is in fact working and he has pancreatitis, which is fixable. So my cat will be just fine with some work. I found Dr. Dion’s ability to jump to conclusions extremely disturbing and really hope that others do not listen to what she has to say about their own loved ones.

I adopted two kittens from PetSmart and was given 2 coupons for a free vet visit for each cat for Banfield. The manager would not accept both coupons because she said it is for one new patient. I had 2 coupons for 2 new cats. Don’t offer the coupon if you aren’t going to honor it.

I love Banfield Pet Hospitals and Clinics. I have always had my pets on either a new puppy or kitten plan and then on the adult plan! I now travel all over the US and have had to take Jacq in for various reasons and being able to go to Banfield assures continuity in his care! 💙🐾🐾💙
