It is sad to have to write this review since this veterinarian has seen my dog since it was a year old. Sadly, my dog has been diagnosed with the possibility of cancer in his prostrate, kidneys, and spine by another veterinary office in Greenwood. Since spring of last year, after my dog's kennel cough shot, given to him nasally for the tech said it was the only way given(which I later learned was not true), he developed this constant licking of his nose. He did not have the habit of doing this. Then he began drinking water incessantly. Something he also never did. I did the research and learned it could be a UTI. I brought him in again to get checked and it was a UTI. They gave me 10 days of antibiotics and never mentioned a recheck. Twice this year he developed UTIs and again he was brought in for it. I had it rechecked and it was supposedly gone. The vet did not inquire as to why a male dog was getting so many UTIs, uncommon for them unless something else is wrong, like cancer. The new vet I am using now said, when testing him a third time, that he had a very bad case of a UTI. She, unlike Greenwwood, took a 6 side view of his pelvic area whereby Greenwood only took a 2 sided view. The new vet and a radiologist concurred that crystallization and some sort of mass existed in his spine, prostrate, urethra, and kidneys. My dog is now scheduled to go to oncology in Greenville to confirm and review the next steps for him. The vet at Greenwood veterinary which I had used for years, having done an x-ray the spring of 2025, had said after his x-ray, that he could not find anything wrong with my dog. He said he saw a small something but it was not alarming. The current vet said he may have mistaken it for a stool mass. Had he taken more views, knowing of his UTI, my complaints that my dog was not well, constantly drinking water and licking his nose, my dog would be in a different situation today. This year, before I switched to the new vet, he again took x-rays and saw nothing. Instead he put my dog on a pain killer and said that if it does not clear up, there is a remote possibility of a lesion. My dog was not getting better and I was lead to another veterinarian, thinking that this was not normal for my dog. The fact is that 1 out of 2 dogs over the age of ten, will develop cancer and 1 out of 3 dogs in general will develop cancer is alarming and he did not look into it. I am angry, very angry, after almost a $1000 dollars in medical bills from Greenwood Veterinary, it had to come to this. I had to pay for x-rays and more tests at another veterinarian to diagnose my dog. If you repeatedly tell a veterinarian the symptoms , would he not be more thorough and rule out the possibility of the worse? Why did I have to research it, go to another veterinarian? Worse, a year and a few months later, something that could have been diagnosed earlier, at a more curable state, I am faced with cancer, and the possibility of one of the worst cancers in dogs, osteosarcoma(bone cancer), and potentially the death of my dog at a premature date. I DO NOT advise anyone to use the Greenwood Veterinary office except for simple things like a rabies shot. They are simply not equipped or have the knowledge base. If you love your dog as I do, choose a veterinarian that is better equipped and takes the time to explain and thoroughly research your pet's problem. If my dog dies, at least I hope that this review will reach others in the community.
