  if i could give 0 stars, i would. no business that sells live animals should allow a tiny baby axolotl, or ANY animal, to die because of negligent husbandry. this poor axolotl was far too small to be housed in a large, deep display tank. baby axolotls are extremely delicate and require species appropriate care, including shallow, cool, clean water, low flow, and close monitoring. at this age, they can easily become exhausted trying to navigate a large enclosure. they can have difficulty locating food, and are far more susceptible to stress than older juveniles. axolotls are not “beginner pets” and if a store chooses to sell them, it has a responsibility to provide proper husbandry and ensure employees understand their specialized needs. selling an animal while failing to meet even its most basic care requirements is unacceptable. seeing this tiny axolotl dead was heartbreaking and completely preventable. i sincerely hope this store reevaluates its animal care standards before another animal suffers the same fate.

  Wouldn’t let us adopt a kitten because the kitten was under 6 months and I have children. Should of disclosed this information at the beginning of application process

  I wasn’t that impressed with this Petco until… I saw their amazing selection of live animals! They had gerbils, hamsters, a parakeet, and even a cool-looking snake on display for adoption! This was in addition to their selection of adoptable cats and fish, which weren’t quite as remarkable but were still a nice option. Other than their live animals, I wasn’t really impressed with their food bar, as I’ve seen much better at other pet stores. In addition, their self-dog-washing station wasn’t as large or as nice as comparative stores, and their selection of toys was also lacking. All-in-all, this store is worth visiting and browsing around if you’re interested in adopting a pet, but for anything else, I’d probably go to a different pet store.
