I am writing to express my profound disappointment and serious concern regarding an interaction involving one of your veterinary technicians at your James Island location. I have been working to rescue a kitten that was scheduled to come into my care. Recently, the individual currently in possession of this kitten brought it to your facility. Despite the kitten being slated for professional rescue, a member of your veterinary technician staff advised this person to release the kitten into the wild, citing that it had ringworm, worms, and fleas. I find this advice both medically irresponsible and ethically alarming. These conditions are common and highly treatable, particularly in kittens rescued from outdoor environments. Advising a layperson to "release" a domestic kitten—which depends on human intervention for survival—is essentially issuing a death sentence. Furthermore, releasing a vulnerable kitten into the current South Carolina heat with these ailments is dangerous and cruel. Because of this specific recommendation from your staff member, the kitten was released into an unfamiliar environment against my direct efforts to secure its safety. Please be advised that I am formally documenting this incident and intend to escalate this complaint to corporate leadership. I would like to hear from management immediately regarding how your staff is trained to handle rescue animals and why such reckless, life-threatening advice was provided.

This banfield is very difficult, but we had great experiences w N charleston and Mt Pleasant location in the past. We usually drive to those to avoid this one. This is the closest one to my house they will only do drop off appts and said my dog doesn’t have notes for an in person visit. This is just one of many bad experiences we have had and a primary reason for cancelling our wellness plan.

If you can, go to ANY other location. The women up front is extremely rude and they routinely do not answer the phone for the first hour or two of open business hours.
