  It is August 20th at 2:36 p.m. I walked in around 2:20. I looked at the dog grooming station and there is a small blonde girl with glasses that was working. She was working on a what seemed to be a small Chihuahua looking dog mixed with another breed. Maybe it was like a brown tan and I think he had dark ears. She was cutting his nails and he was trying to like get out of the headpiece that she had on him and then when he tried to get out she tightened it so tight. I saw him coughing and I stood there and nobody helped her. She didn't ask for any help and when she noticed I was staring at her, she then started to laugh and then everybody looked at me. If this is your dog I would not go back there. They completely ignored the fact that your dog was being choked out by a leash and I feel really bad that your dog had to go through that but once everybody saw me standing there that's when they had somebody come in and have help and your dog literally had to prop himself or herself on the other worker because he was being choked so he had to prop himself up to be able to breathe. I hope you never take your dog here ever again and I will not be shopping here anymore because I'm not going to walk in and see dogs being choked to death. Shame on you, the manager and all the other workers who just stood around because I know for damn well you heard that dog trying to breathe and little blonde girl. The glasses thinks it's funny. She should be fired she didn't even try to calm the dog down. She just tightened it even more and his neck was so stretched out and he was trying to lift himself up on anything to breathe until a worker came over and he kind of like jumped up on her arms to prop himself up because that leash around his throat was so tight. I watched the whole thing for about 15 minutes. She let that dog suffer like that. If this is your dog, do not bring them back

  Yesterday went to Petco & this WHITE lady said for my dog to stay away cause he has germs…why cause I’m BLACK…unfortunately you should not be in public if you have a COLOR problem …& if ANYONE has GERMS is your filty self . His groomer cut too much , yes I said short as to a shitzu but was not done as asked !

  I'm sorry to say this location on Quaker Lane in Warwick has gone downhill over the last year especially. One thing I hate is there's always shipping equipment stacked wherever I need to look for something and really often in the way of where people try to walk. I can understand it's a tight store but consideration should be taken for customers ease. This time I came specifically to look at the fish but found a lot of their displays against the tanks so all you can see is the top row of fish. It looked like they were getting ready to rearrange but during store hours is not the time to do that, especially in a way you can't see the inventory. The staff is also not often attentive. I noticed one member on his phone sitting down near the fish. I often find the cashiers on their phone as well. I was surprised someone was even around the fish, often times it's a challenge finding someone for the aquarium section, and many times they have no clue about the fish. This time around I found multiple dead bettas, it was sad to see so many either dead or on the verge of dying. Most of the containers had too much food spoiled inside with the fish. Some fish found near the top on its side or bottom barely responding, barely alive. You can tell water quality was left poor. Their other location, chapel view in Cranston, keeps their containers clean (I've even seen them changing water out on multiple visits), so I'm surprised this location has let their bettas become so neglected. I know their main tanks are also usually not in the best condition, of course on my most recent visit I couldn't see majority of the tanks. Moving on towards the birds, the conures didn't seem well taken care of. A couple of years ago the cages and birds were better. I should also take this time to mention the staff, on several visits, would openly use profanity among themselves all while kids around in the store. I complained about this before when I went to check out on a visit but it's obvious nothing was done. It was easy to decide not to buy anything this time around and just head down the street to a different chain pet store. Petco - Animals are living things, please be more responsible.

  Typical box store, even for a Pet Store. Plenty of items to choose from, good selection, good prices, but when we got to the register, we and another customer in front of us waited for 5 minutes for someone to come and man the register. I had to go walking around the building searching for an employee to ask them if there was anyone who could do it. Finally, I found someone and all they did was yell a person's name and said to go to the front. I went back and waited and still no one came and finally that same employee who yelled out the other employee's name came out, looked and saw that no one was there and she decided that she would do it. That was very frustrating and unprofessional by the store employees.
