Our time there was fantastic. The ladies at the front desk are very very nice and friendly. They were able to fit us in on a busy day. The vet, Ms Giasomo, is so informative and took her time to explain all my concerns. I will refer all my pet families to go there. A scary time for me and my dog, Madison, ended up actually being a very comforting, and may I say, enjoyable experience. So, I would like to thank the staff and Ms Giasomo for everything. And Madison thanks you too.

Frequently Asked Questions About Franklin Veterinary Associates
How often should my pet have checkups?
We recommend annual examinations for healthy adult pets. Pets that are older or have ongoing health concerns may need to be seen more frequently to maintain their health and well-being.
Do I need flea, tick, and heartworm prevention?
Year-round protection against fleas, ticks, and heartworms is highly recommended. Continuous prevention is essential for maintaining your pet's health and comfort.
What should I do in an after-hours emergency?
For after-hours emergencies, please call our emergency line immediately. If we're unavailable, we advise you to seek care at the nearest 24-hour veterinary facility.
When should I spay or neuter my pet?
Generally, the optimal time for spaying or neutering is between six and 12 months of age. However, this can differ based on your pet's specific breed and health status.
How can I tell if my pet is overweight?
Veterinarians utilize a body condition scoring system to evaluate pet weight. At home, you should be able to feel your pet's ribs without an excessive fat layer covering them.
How do I introduce a new pet into the household?
We recommend a gradual introduction process to ease the transition. This includes supervised interactions between pets and exchanging scents to help minimize stress for all animals involved.
What can I do to make my pet less anxious about going to the vet?
To reduce your pet's anxiety, we can provide medication before the appointment. This helps to relax your pet and make their visit more comfortable.
What's the safest way to travel with pets?
For safe pet travel, use proper restraints such as carriers, seatbelt harnesses, or secure crates. It's crucial to never leave your pet unattended in a vehicle.
