  I’m giving four stars because overall, I have had very positive experiences here. My dog attended both puppy and dog training through Petco in which her trainer was wonderful, the store associates have consistently been friendly and helpful, and during this visit, Ariel in grooming was incredibly kind, professional, and understanding. Unfortunately, my interaction with groomer Ashley C. was the complete opposite. I came in as a walk in for a nail, face, and fanny service for my dog, Remi. Ashley told me she was able to accommodate us, which I genuinely appreciated and repeatedly thanked her for. During check in, she updated my phone number and immediately* afterward, told me she would “call me” when Remi was finished. Given that she had literally just asked for and updated my phone number, I reasonably understood that to mean I would receive a phone call. I went to my vehicle which was parked directly outside the glass wall of the grooming salon. At one point Ashley came to the window and gestured toward me in a way that appeared as though she wanted me to move. I assumed Remi could see me and that my presence might be distracting her, so I moved the vehicle. I never left the parking lot and continued checking periodically because I was in a rush and did not expect the services requested to take very long but understood she was being squeezed in so I didn’t want to seem pushy and just tried to wait on the call. After approximately an hour with no phone call, email, or other notification, I went back inside to check on Remi. Instead of simply explaining the misunderstanding, Ashley immediately began raising her voice at me, repeatedly stating, “We are not a daycare,” and telling me I should never have left the store and would now be charged. I apologized and calmly explained that I genuinely misunderstood her instructions because she had told me she would “call” me immediately after updating my phone number. Ashley then snapped that she had paged me over the store’s loudspeaker and continued repeating that they were “not a daycare.” At no point had she explained that by “call” she meant page me over the loudspeaker or that I was required to remain inside the store. Had she simply said, “Please stay in the store; we’ll page you when ahe’s finished,” there would have been absolutely no issue. This was a simple misunderstanding caused by unclear communication, and I was already apologetic once I understood what had happened. There was no reason for the situation to escalate into an employee yelling at a customer. Thankfully, Ariel was present. She was humble, kind, understanding, and handled the situation with the professionalism I would expect from Petco. She gave us grace regarding an obvious misunderstanding, and I am extremely grateful she was there because Ashley’s hostility was honestly concerning enough that it would have made me uncomfortable having my dog in her care alone. When someone is handling a pet that you love like family, professionalism and emotional composure matter just as much as the grooming service itself. What bothered me most was that I remained apologetic throughout the interaction. I even directly asked Ashley why she was yelling at me over a misunderstanding, yet her tone and behavior did not change. I understand that employees have stressful days, but customers should not become the target of that frustration especially when they are actively trying to resolve the situation respectfully. I have trusted Petco with Remi for years and have otherwise had wonderful experiences with the employees here, which is why I am still giving four stars. Ariel deserves recognition for how she handled this interaction, as do the other employees and trainers I have encountered over the years. Unfortunately, Ashley C.’s communication during this visit were extremely unprofessional and completely inconsistent with every other experience I have had at this location.

  We love Petco grooming in Erie. Ariel is wonderful with our senior GSD. It is always clean as well

  Ariel did a fantastic job grooming my dog, he’s anxious and I could tell when I picked him up that he had fallen in love with her!! Thank you again
