  Very disappointed with my experience at Petco today. I called last week specifically to schedule a grooming appointment for my dog, Layla. Because she is a short-nosed breed, I was required to call to make the appointment rather than booking normally. At no point during that phone call was I told that I needed to bring proof of her rabies vaccination. I am a brand-new dog owner, so I completely understand that I should have known or asked about vaccination requirements, but I also feel that this is important information that should be clearly communicated when an appointment is being scheduled over the phone—especially when speaking directly with an employee. When I called the store manager about the situation, I was told something about a confirmation call where this information would have been provided. I never received a confirmation call. To make matters worse, Layla’s appointment was scheduled for 11:30 AM today. When we arrived, no one told us that we could wait in the grooming area. Instead, we stood near the cashier for more than 35 minutes waiting, only to deal with an issue that could have been prevented with proper communication from the beginning. I understand that vaccination requirements are there for a reason, and I have no issue with the policy itself. My issue is the lack of communication and organization. Had I simply been told when I booked the appointment that I needed to bring Layla’s rabies information, I would have made sure I had it with me and avoided wasting my time. For a brand-new dog owner trying to do the right thing and properly care for their pet, this was an unnecessarily frustrating and inconvenient experience.
