Extremely disappointed — this is not how longtime clients should be treated
I brought my sick cat to this clinic because it was the veterinary clinic I had trusted and used for years. Unfortunately, my regular veterinarian retired, and my experience with the new veterinarian was extremely disappointing.
The veterinarian I saw was brand new and fresh out of veterinary school. Dr Topale. During my cat’s examination, an excessive amount of stain was put into her eye while checking for an ulcer. What concerned me even more was the amount of emphasis placed on pricing during the visit.
The technician came into the room twice to go over pricing with me, and then the veterinarian came in and went over pricing again. I had already spoken with the manager and was fully aware of the costs. I didn’t need to have the prices repeatedly explained to me while I was there with a sick animal.
When I questioned what was happening, I was told that the clinic had every right to go over its pricing and that they had every right not to see me as a patient if I didn’t agree with their policies. I understand that veterinary care costs money and that clinics have policies. What I found upsetting was feeling as though the financial discussion had become more important than the reason I was there — getting medical care for my cat.
I then tried to contact the district manager because I wanted someone higher up to know what had happened. Instead of having my concerns addressed, I was told that I could no longer go to that particular clinic, although I could use one of their sister clinics.
There is another part of this experience that I find especially disturbing. After the incident, another veterinarian at the clinic apparently became aware of what had happened and told the manager that she did not want to see my pets. I was left with the very strong impression that my situation had been discussed among the staff and that I was being judged based on those discussions rather than being treated professionally as a longtime client.
If a client’s concerns are being discussed around the office in a way that affects how other veterinarians are willing to treat that client’s animals, that is extremely unprofessional.
Pet owners are already frightened and stressed when they bring in a sick animal. We should be able to expect compassion, professionalism, privacy, and a genuine focus on our pets’ health.
After years of trusting this clinic, I am extremely disappointed by how this situation was handled. I will not be returning, and I hope other pet owners think carefully about whether this is the type of environment in which they want their animals treated.
Gigi the manager was kind.

This place will only try to upsell you at every turn. They look at your stress of having an injured or sick pet and try to turn it into as much profit as possible. Do not go here.

I brought my cat in for a growth that was concerning me. The vet took a swab sample from the growth and sent it to the lab, The charge was $450 which I paid before leaving. The vet Called me one week later to tell me the sample was inconclusive. It was a four minute phone call which apparently cost another $85.
I didn’t even know about the $85 charge until I got a collection bill in the mail.

Dr. Hackney is the best vet who cares just as much as we do about our pets. She treats them with kindness and could not ask for a better doctor for my pets.
