  I had a really disappointing experience at Petco in Salem today. I went in because I needed to buy cat food, and unfortunately the customer service was extremely poor. When I got to the register, there were three employees up front talking amongst themselves about the ribbon in a display and their personal lives. They were not really interacting with customers, and I wasn’t even invited to the next register, I simply walked up. The only thing I was asked was, “Phone number?” No hello, no “I can help you here,” no “How’s your day?” Nothing. Not one of the three employees stopped their conversation long enough to acknowledge me as a customer. At one point, one of the employees very rudely said, “I’m going to the back. If you need me, that’s where I’ll be.” Honestly, I almost walked out. The only reason I stayed was because my cat needed her food. Then, while checking out, I noticed it looked like I may have been charged for some items twice. I asked the cashier, Fawn, if she was sure the total was correct because it looked like something had been scanned twice. She said, “Yep, it’s the right amount.” I told her that it looked like she had scanned something twice and that she was too busy talking to notice. She responded by saying that all I had to do was interrupt her and tell her to stop talking and she would have. I’m sorry, but that shouldn’t be my responsibility as the customer. When a customer is standing at your register, your job is to pay attention to the customer and their transaction, not carry on a conversation with coworkers while ringing them up. After I left, I called the store and asked to speak with the store manager. The person who answered said she was one of the three employees who had been up front. I explained why I was calling and told her I would be contacting customer care. I also attempted to contact customer care, but no one answered. I will be calling again. I understand that employees can have conversations with each other, but there is a time and place for that. Customers should not feel like they are interrupting employees simply by needing to check out. I really hope management addresses this because this was one of the most uncomfortable and unprofessional checkout experiences I’ve had at Petco. I came in to purchase food for my cat, not to feel like I was inconveniencing the employees by being there.

  Made an appointment with groomers for cat nail trimming and said they couldn't do it because they didn't let me know she needed her vaccines. So I wasted my cats time and my time and gas.
