Cats in the City – Portland (Powell) offers feline-only grooming under the TANDEM Cat® model, a trauma-informed, behavior-first approach developed by Master of Social Work Shawn Lioyryan and neuroscientist Dr. Daniel Lioy. This structured method blends feline body mechanics, behavioral fluency, and team-based stabilization to create a grooming experience that prioritizes safety, calm, and nervous system protection. Using coordinated support from one to two trained groomers, each cat’s posture and movement are gently stabilized while grooming is performed with precision and care. This reduces stress and improves safety — especially for anxious, senior, or medically complex cats.
