  Please have management review the axolotl tank. Axolotls SHOULD NOT be kept on gravel. These rocks are barely larger than their heads. In about a week, these axolotls will be big enough to eat the rocks. It will cause them to get impacted and die. I informed a cashier about this and was told the aquarium keeper gal apparently has an axolotl and thinks it is fine because the rocks are bigger than the Axolotls. They are BARELY bigger than these axolotls. The rocks should be removed immediately. Baby Axolotls should be kept on bare bottom tanks to avoid impaction. Axolotls do not eat by biting things, they suck in a gulp and anything in front of them that is as wide as their head - they will swallow it whole. These baby axolotls are going to die if you keep them like this. I am very disappointed. Extremely ironic to keep a how to care sheet next to them, but then keep these axolotls in a deadly environment.

  this store is INFESTED WITH SNAKE MITES. The worker lied to me telling me the snake was only soaking in the water because it was about to shed it kept soaking and didn’t shed and i noticed little specs kept getting in the water from the first day I had it I thought it was from the bedding, nope I had someone who knew snakes a little better come and look and told me they had mites and then I found out my friend bought a different snake 3 weeks prior to me buying mine and it also had horrible mites. Here’s a picture after doing their 5th soak since finding out I bought them last money still infested petco doesn’t sell treatment for it I’ve been doing home remedies to help the snakes get relief until my order gets here with the treatment.

  Took my 3 year old daughter to petco in Keizer today as her Betta died 2 weeks ago and she was ready to get another one. We decided to buy the new fish a new home (tank) and buy all new stuff. I go up to pay and get told by the cashier (Nathan) that I could not buy the fish if I didn’t have a tank set up a week prior to buying the fish. I informed him that I have never been told that at any petco that I’ve purchased Bettas from. He was very rude and told me that is the policy. I informed him I was not going to buy any thing then and he said I could buy the stuff and come back in a week and get the fish. I said not going to do that because what if the fish my daughter picked out was gone in a week, he scoffed and informed me “it’s a fish, it’ll be there in a week”. I walked out with an upset daughter who kept asking where her fish was.. I waited a few minutes and went back in to find a manager. I walked upon 2 employees talking about the situation and started talking to them and one of them ended up being the manager. He informed me I can go back up to the front and buy all the stuff and the betta. When I got up there, the cashier was still very rude…. I imagine he was upset because he was not accurate in the information he gave me. Even my daughter made the comment that she didn’t like him because he was mean. I will not return to this store. I do appreciate the manager and other workers though.

  Helpful employees. This review is for the company, not the employees. Every bit of the aquatic section needs to be completely overhauled. The tanks are disgusting, filthy, overrun with algea and gunk. The fish are lackluster and poorly cared for. The plants are worthless, and almost entirely dead. Their betta section is unquestionably animal cruelty with several dead, emaciated, malnourished bettas in disgraceful conditions. Cloudy water, evident dropsy, popeyes, torn, missing and clamped fins, etc. Get it together, Petco. This seems to be an ongoing issue from the look of the reviews. BOYCOTT THIS STORE.
