The partnership with puppykitty is nice, Petco gives room in their stores for rescued cats. But they also sells birds and fishes. I wonder who in 2026 is buying birds to keep in a jail? This type of commerce should not exist. Don’t buy birds. Don’t sell birds. Same for fishes. They have an infinite biodiversity to explore and we are keeping them in small jails. How can people not realize that yet?

Second time I've been to renovated store in forest hills. First time could not find anything or worker to ask. Left and sent to gateway store. This time I asked customers ( as again no workers to be found). I found cat treats by accident as they Are not in cat section. Other customers also preferred the old set up.

This is THE worst pet store I have ever been to. Staff are very much unprofessional and lazy. Five or six of them were hanging around, and I was told that someone would assist me soon. I waited for about 30 minutes, and during that time, I was told few times that someone would come to help me. Then one of them told me that their was no one to assist. My entire one hour was a waisted.

The cashier Anthony denied me the purchase of female betta fish that I kindly explained and showed him I had a sorority tank for. I recently had an angelfish that killed all my female betta fish and was feeling down about it and wanted to restock some after I had removed the angelfish. Anthony continued to argue with me that I couldn't keep multiple (6) female fish because they were going to fight, which I continued to tell him they do not and that I had experience with them.i explained to him that he was wrong and had the wrong info about female betta fish. I understand the abuse of some pet owners, but this is definitely not the case here. I had to leave the store very upset and with tears in my eyes because of the fish that I had picked out excitedly and had to leave behind. I will not be getting my fish from here anymore, unfortunately.
