  They are not competitive in pricing of wet dog food. 50 cents a can more doesn't seem like a lot unless you're buying a lot. Staff is nice to erratic.. no consistency

  Called me 20 minutes after dropping off my pup to tell me they had to ‘abort the grooming’ because my dog was too excited! They didn’t try taking him for a walk or giving a treat. They literally didn’t even speak to me when I picked him up. The groomer, Amanda, was just standing there with my dog who was very calm and passed him to me. She just handed him over and literally said nothing. The groomer and manager(?) just stood there with no explanation or apology. I said it was a little rude not to speak and they still said nothing. I am dumbfounded. I liked going there for nail clippings and vet care. My dog had been there many times. I will not set foot in PETCO again.

  The customer service at the Poughkeepsie petco location has been good up to a couple months ago. The last 7+ times i have went into the store every single worker there has be silent and ignored my how are youa and don’t talk through out the entire transaction except mumbling what type of receipt I would like. That has been my experience for months. These are the same 4 workers I see work there that are straight up silent and do not explain questions. Its frustrating and the environment is uncomfortable. There is only two workers there that have remained professional and friendly and are eager to answer questions! I had two interactions on register yesterday that were complete silent. I went into a different pet store immediately after, got greated, had two good convos with 2 different workers and the man at checkout was very polite and talked! The prices are also higher than petsmart or other places. So i don’t think i’ll be coming back, ive shopped here two years but the environment and atmosphere has completely changed. Not to mention some of the bettas in the cups need more attention…

  Petco is a decent option for pet goods and services, though they have some steep competition with Petsmart and other retailers who offer similar items at competitive prices

  A little more expensive in some things, but it's worth getting the premier version of the loyalty program if you're going to buy food and litter at Petco and bring your pet to the vet even once a year. The staff are friendly and remember my animals, and my dog loves going to the store. Even my kittens don't mind visiting!
