My dog Lahki is a rescue and very anxious around people and new environments. We had cycled through trainers and tried a number of remedies recommended by our regular vet (who we also love!), but nothing seemed to help our poor pup. Our regular vet recommended we start working with a behavior vet, and we found Dr. Tu online. Dr. Tu patiently educated and worked with us to find the right combination of medication and non-medication routes for Lahki. We visibly saw his improvement each time we tweaked his dose and returned to see Dr. Tu, which was immensely encouraging as we had already been searching for and trying other solutions for 2 years with no success. At one point, it really felt like walking Lahki outside was a safety hazard. Now Lahki enjoys his walks and can even handle having guests over. It’s not perfect but the quality of life for our little family has improved tenfold. We’re so grateful we found Dr. Tu and can’t recommend working with her enough. We were always greeted with a warm smile and empathy at Heart of Chelsea, and though we’re excited to graduate Lahki from behavior services, we will sorely miss his wonderful doctor and the amazing staff.

Dr. Andrea Tu is an incredible veterinarian! Every single visit, she goes above and beyond by giving my cat extra time to make sure she feels comfortable. She is remarkably gentle and moves at a slow, careful pace based entirely on what my pet needs. I noticed another review here that seemed really strange and completely fake—it does not reflect Dr. Tu’s actual care at all. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a compassionate vet.

We have been patients of HoC for years! We were recommended to the practice by Dr. Andrea Tu. We have followed Dr. Tu from three practices across ten years! Dr. Tu is extremely sought after and well regarded in veterinary fields and at one point even we could not always get appointments with her at her previous practice. She recommended HoC to us and we are SO happy she did! We LOVE HoC! (and we LOVE Dr. Torchia!) HoC is the gold-standard in vet practices in New York. We now drive two hours out of our way to have our animals seen by Dr. Tu and Dr. Torchia. They are outstanding as are the vet techs and each of the support staff. Dr. Tu is not only a general practice vet but has an established reputation for her knowledge in animal behavior. Her judgement, approach, and compassion to each of her clients is unparalleled. She is so dedicated to the well-being of each of her clients - human and animal. Several years ago she helped care for and coordinate referrals to specialists for my dog Melvin, who was sick with a brain tumor. When he stayed at her (previous) hospital for care, she made sure he received lots of love and the team sent videos. I still keep them on my phone to this day. While this was at a different hospital, Dr. Tu's standards and respect for animals and her clients never waver, and I know from my own experiences this is the exact level of care any family can expect to receive at HoC too. It is why we love them!

Awful experience. I’ve had dogs for 32 years and have worked with them professionally for over 20. I have always adored my vets and can confidently say that I’ve probably been to over 200 vet appointments. I can’t remember having a single negative experience, let alone one as awful as I had with Dr. Andrea Y. Tu. Not only is she incredibly rude, she was so heavy handed and aggressive with my dog who is unbothered by people handling him and doesn’t mind the vets office at all. He is as calm and stable as a dog can be. She walked in the room, did not say a word or make eye contact with me or my girlfriend, grabbed his face and jammed the light into his ears to check the infection we brought him in for. He yelped and then she forcefully gave his face a stern jolt. He growled for the first time at a human being EVER. We asked her what the heck she was doing. Then she said “this dogs aggressive and he should be medicated” and offered her behavorist services. Perhaps she should pop a few of those pills. The kind tech who was in the room looked as shocked as we were. We immediately walked out of the room and told the front desl what happened. They profusely apologized and offered us another appointment with another vet in their office who I’m sure is probably lovely but NO THANK YOU. That was INSANE!

I don’t see much love for Dr Frank Fontana here so I want to leave him some. He is the best vet I have ever encountered and I have been lucky enough to have an animal in my life since childhood. He is kind, answers all my ridiculous questions and appears to really care about his patients. The other vets we have seen when unable to see dr Fontana have also been fantastic. I don’t feel comfortable bringing my dog anywhere else. The entire staff is wonderful, including Mason, Breanna, etc. The prices are on the higher end but I prefer to pay a premium for quality service. My last vet I had to wait an hour and a half to be seen for my appointments among other really unprofessional issues. HOC submits to your insurance as well and I really appreciate being able to avoid the hassle of submitting myself.
