  I’ve been pleasantly pleased with the care Zuki and I have received at Banfield Pet Hospital thus far. The team has been attentive, caring, and genuinely receptive to our needs. I especially appreciate their willingness to listen and suggest thoughtful solutions that support Zuki’s overall health and wellness. It’s reassuring to feel that her care is approached with both compassion and attention. We’ve had a very positive experience and are grateful for the care she’s received.

  “Dr” vessey do better. Front desk needs to do better or new employees bc ifs very difficult to deal with them.

  My nieces review was removed. She is still traumatized by her experience here so I wanted to share her actual experience at this location. Her father has been in touch with Banfield corporate headquarters as well. So, I am writing this review on behalf of my niece and our family because what we experienced at the Banfield location in Lake Grove on June 11 is something we will never forget. My niece brought her 16-year-old dog, Pappy, to a 4:30 p.m. appointment because he had developed a dry cough over the previous couple of days. Aside from the cough, he was still acting like himself. She has photos and videos from the appointment showing him alert, wagging his tail, and happily interacting with her in the exam room. The veterinarian examined Pappy and told my niece that his heart murmur had progressed from a grade 2 to a grade 5 and that he had fluid in his lungs. She was told the fluid was making it difficult for him to breathe and that an injection could help remove it. After being told his blood work looked good, she agreed to the treatment. X-rays were also taken, and Pappy was discharged with medication for his heart. As soon as my niece got him to the car, Pappy suddenly collapsed in her arms. He became limp, and his tongue turned purple. She immediately rushed him back into the vets office, where he was placed on oxygen. This is where the horror began and the ultimate reason for the review. While Pappy was on oxygen, my family was told the clinic was closing and that he had to be transported to an emergency veterinary hospital approximately 20 minutes away. My niece and her father asked more than once whether he could remain on oxygen longer to see if he would stabilize before making the trip, but were told he had to be transferred because the clinic was closing. He was taken off oxygen, and my family immediately began the drive to the emergency hospital. About five minutes into the drive, Pappy suffered two seizures and struggled to breathe. A police officer who saw the emergency escorted my family so they could reach the hospital as quickly as possible. The speed at which Pappy's condition changed was heartbreaking. My niece brought in a dog with a cough who was alert and happy, and within a short time she was watching him fight for his life. To this day, our family is left with questions about why his condition deteriorated so suddenly and why he could not remain on oxygen before being transported and the utter lack of compassion shown throughout the experience. Based on what I witnessed and what my family experienced, I do not feel my niece or Pappy were treated with the level of compassion, empathy, communication, or understanding that we expected during a medical emergency. If those qualities are important to you when choosing a veterinarian, I encourage you to consider our family's experience as part of your decision. Pappy was more than a pet. He was my niece's best friend, constant companion, and beloved family member for nearly 17 years. I am sharing this review so others can make informed decisions about where they choose to seek care for their pets. My niece remains devastated.
