  We feel lucky to have found Dr Hackney and his team. We first discovered Heart of Chelsea when looking for a local vet to do dental procedures on our 9 year old cats. The thought, care, and transparency we have experienced at this practice has been unprecedented. Not only did they check in with us the day before the procedure, but we were also reassured the morning of that we could call whenever throughout the day to see how our girls were doing. Despite our nervousness, all our questions and concerns were addressed thoroughly and supportively. We highly recommend Dr Hackney and his team for anyone looking for excellent care for their beloved pet-children.

  My wife and I took our wonder-mutt Francine to see Dr. Hackney for the last few years of her life as she managed Cushing's syndrome and a number of other chronic and compounding conditions. Originally at the Park Slope location, we followed Dr. Hackney to his new post in Greenpoint because of how well he cared for Fran. He and his team were fabulous, always listening to our concerns, always supporting our decisions, and doing their very best to care for her and make her more comfortable. We cannot recommend them highly enough to care for your dog -- Dr. Hackney puts care and compassion first and doesn't ever make you feel like he is recommending things just to make money off of your emotional vulnerability. You should really look no further than this location.

  My foster pup, Ellie, and I had a 5-star experience from start to finish at Heart of Chelsea - Greenpoint! Lilliana was SO helpful with creating an account and scheduling our appointment. I received a text confirmation with a link to complete forms ahead of time, and I was easily able to upload all of Ellie’s previous medical history. During the exam, I noticed that all of her vaccine history and behavioral notes from her previous vet had already been added to her account. Ellie is a little unsure of people at first, but the technician, Katie, immediately allowed Ellie to establish trust at her own pace. They are a Fear Free establishment, and it truly shows that every employee is properly educated and compassionate. During the history intake portion, Katie was incredibly patient and continued giving Ellie treats even while she was barking her little head off. She also took the time to thoroughly inform Dr. Hackney so that his introduction could be as stress-free as possible. Dr. Hackney was also very patient with Ellie while she barked through most of our conversation. He recognized that Ellie might do better away from me and clearly explained what the appointment process would look like. I could hear the team sweetly talking to Ellie in the back, and she wasn’t barking at all! When she came back into the room, she was wagging her tail with a big smile and her tongue hanging out of the side of her mouth. Ellie had so many treats that by the end of the appointment, she was wagging her tail every time Katie and Dr. Hackney walked into the room! Thank you to the entire team for being so kind, patient, and non-judgmental with Ellie! :)
