The cashier I had on 8/5 approx 1:30 was absolutely amazing. His customer service that he provided was rare. You don’t see anyone that cares the way he does.

I have been a loyal customer of this Petco location for many years. Although I have often experienced long checkout lines and long waits for assistance in the fish department, I never felt the need to leave a negative review. I always understood that these things can happen. However, my experience today was completely different and extremely disappointing. I came to the store with my 4-year-old daughter to buy a Tiger Oscar for our aquarium. The first issue was that we had to wait approximately 15 minutes before anyone came to assist us in the fish department. When an associate finally arrived, she was very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. She asked several questions about my aquarium, including the size of my tank, and I told her it was a 10-gallon tank. She also asked whether I had experience keeping fish, and I explained that I have been maintaining aquariums for over five years. My daughter was excited to bring home a Tiger Oscar that was no more than half an inch long. The associate went to speak with the store manager for approval, but he refused to sell me the fish because he believed my current tank was too small and insisted that I first purchase a 20-gallon aquarium. At that point, I already had fish food, six aquarium filters, and several other items in my shopping cart that I was prepared to purchase. I spoke directly with the manager and explained that the fish was still a tiny juvenile and that I fully intended to upgrade to a larger tank as it grew. Tiger Oscars take time to grow, and I planned to provide a larger aquarium long before it outgrew its current space. Despite my explanation, the manager was unwilling to listen or consider my experience and simply refused the sale. As a result, I decided to leave all of the items I was planning to purchase and walked out of the store. My biggest disappointment was not that the manager cared about the fish’s well-being—I respect that. What disappointed me was his lack of judgment, unwillingness to listen to an experienced customer, and the way he handled the situation. A good manager should be willing to have a conversation, evaluate each situation individually, and offer reasonable solutions instead of making inflexible decisions without considering the facts. After being a loyal customer for so many years, it is difficult to understand how a manager can drive away a customer who was making a significant purchase over a decision that lacked both flexibility and common sense. I sincerely hope Petco reviews how some of its managers handle customer service. The excellent attitude and professionalism of the associate were completely overshadowed by the manager’s decision, which cost the store a valuable sale and, quite possibly, the trust of a long-time customer.

This was my first Petco I've ever been to. Went to male cashier to purchase a product that I saw online was for 11.99. He charged me the full retail price of $19.99. When I asked him why he was clueless. He didn't even bother asking for help. Luckily supervisor Kirk was near him and heard what was going on and came to the rescue. Kirk gave the guy instructions as to how to price-match and the guy just kept looking at me with deer-on-headlights look. Donno what was wrong with this guy. Another female cashier to his right had to step in to complete the transaction. This guy was incompetent. Kirk, thank you for the step-in and being very helpful in saving me $9.00. Your guy clearly needs more training

The stores open at 8:30 I was standing outside to buy something before I had to go to work and then a couple other people were lined up and they still hadn’t opened the doors, someone had to call them to let them know we were outside, what’s the point of a worker opening for a big franchise if they’re not even going to open on time. Then asked for help with a leash and it’s like they don’t even want to be there, if they’re act like that then they shouldn’t be working where you have to interact with customers.
