  So in general I enjoy Banfield. However, today I took my cat in for check up. I wanted to also schedule a dental cleaning. Because the dental cleaning would take place later, they didn't see reason to take blood during this visit when they will just have to do it in a month. So they gave my cat his vaccinations and left that to be done during the cleaning. Perfect. The vet comes out after the vaccination and tells me that this mass on my cats neck which has been there for years and I was previously told was benign (by Banfield). It suddenly needs to be removed because they don't know what it is and they need to send it to a lab to test... Okay, so my cat now needs invasive surgery that will cost $500-$700-$1k roughly, because the vet doesn't know what it is and don't take blood so couldn't tell if there was anything strange that could be happening from this previously assumed to be benign mass. I was then instructed to give my cat a prescription diet to avoid him getting diabetes... My can again didn't have blood work done so why there is a sudden threat of diabetes is unclear. Plus, they never bothered to ask me what I feed my cat... Which is a combination of wet and dry food that already helps mitigate diabetes risk... I also wasn't asked about our home life and his normal habits where I could have told them that he has been losing weight and has been very active over the last several months... So, generally I appreciate Banfield. However, I do believe I'll be getting a second opinion and moving my cats healthcare to a different location that doesn't just see my animal and tell me I need to drop tons of money on procedures and products without any explanation as to why his appointment indicated he was at all at risk.

  Rude staff very unfriendly. Vets response, "well, the ear infection might be gone", 2 visits for an ear infection in the last 6 weeks, but won't refill a prescription without an office visit. Vet won't return calls, now 2 seperate times. 2 full days now. Informed them my animal could be in pain! Horrible care, staff. Beware money means more than your animal. Clerical staff is very unhelpful!! Vets don't care!! Zero stars as this business does'nt deserve even one. I have owned animals for 40 years. Worst Practice I have dealt with! ***Just received a phone call 36 hours later stating to bring my animal in as they may not of prescribed the right medication or misdiagnosed him? Insult to injury Banfield. ***Beware of this practice*** I took my cat to a great Vet and upon exam, she found his micro chip put in by Banfield, 3 months ago, on the exam table. The vet confirmed it was his!! Insult to injury. She said to ask for a REFUND. I cannot stomach even speaking with them...so I have to pay for another micro chip. And they charged $20.00 more.
