This is the absolute worst Banfield location I have ever been to. I dont have any complaints for any other location. The front desk staff is rude and clueless. You call and get placed on hold for 45 mins only for them to hang up on you... call back and placed on hold again before u can even say anything. Took my dog to have his anal glands expressed, took him home and he wouldnt sit down for almost 2 weeks and tail was bent.
Given the wrong medication to take home! Like how does that even happen?? Had to go back for them to correct it. Thank God I caught it!
Doctors and assistants seem less than interested in helping and talking with you. Everything is rushed. They wanted to take my dog to the back for his exam and when I asked for the doctor to come to the room, they caught an attitude.
Dont take you family pet here! Go to the Edison location instead. They are super professional and Dr. MOHAMMED is the absolute best!

This is the most unprofessional location, the staff, including the doctor very rude not flexible very unprofessional. Never ever call when you need help. Wish I h Have negative rating. For this location. I am member of Banfield since 2004 wast experience at this location so many time I complains to the practice manager for this location, but the result came as of today zero. Worst staff worst doctor at this location

Just started with Banfield in Metuchen and I have to say that the experience has been so-so. My 12-year-old dog was started on steroids, and the Dr. never told us what possible side effects might occur. Needless to say, my dog experience "uncommon" side effects and it's been a very trying and stressful experience. I give them a 2 because that it's been an "okay" experience, not quite horrible. Also, cytology results took over a week to get, because I kept calling, when they had initially offered for us to wait in the office for results. I will give them another try and if it doesn't work out, I'll look for a smaller vet office where it is not a different vet every time you go in for an appointment.

Front desk team member Eva is clueless on a consistent basis charged our account $90 for urine analysis and isn’t able to tell us if they are testing for what we requested. Hailey claimed it’s the new software system so they can’t tell. When I let her know the question I’m asking is not registering she hung up the phone. Bella and Fallen go above and beyond and Dr. Wilson is amazing they are the only reason we go! But the front desk including Eva and Hailey never have an idea as to what is going on yet are dealing with patients medical records and are lost when you try and ask questions. It’s concerning and dangerous given what they deal with.They need to be properly trained and understand the gravity of what having sick a pet is like especially a puppy. Hope they get the training they need to improve not only customer service but empathy. Regardless of the money, it is also about the health and the well-being of an animal which working at a vet you think they would care. Please be very careful bringing your pet here, double check the medication and be mindful of the carelessness of the front desk.
Update 5/2 - their employee Eva failed to ever send the sample to the lab so our puppy is now on multiple medications as Eva delayed medical treatment and let the a urine sample sit in a refrigerator. Please be very careful when coming here as the repercussions for their team’s actions can affect the health of your pet. The best part is our credit card was charged so she understands how to take your money but can’t comprehend how to care for a sick animal. Alex called me to let me know that I’m not wrong, but will not provide the course of action is being taken for these employees besides she spoke to them. It’s incredibly dangerous to have team members that do not know what to do with a urine sample and if she can’t think what to do or if if she doesn’t what to you she should probably ask. The lack of common sense is unbelievable. Highly do not recommend going to this location unless you get an employee that is competent but please do not work with Eva or Hailey as one thinks it’s okay to take money and not send a sample which leads to your pet being sicker and the other thinks it’s okay to hang up on you when she’s having a bad day. I question if this is how they treat their own pets and family members.

Worst place to take your pet. My wife took my 2 year old frenchie with breathing issues. The Doctor on site that day completely by passed what he was brought in for. They were going to discharge us after 2 hrs of sitting there to be seen for GI issues. They discharge him 6 hrs later and he passes less then 24 hrs. He was never properly diagnosed. They made it seem like he will be ok after we give him the antibiotics. They made me increase my pet plan insurance to $120 a month witch im responsible for now even though my dog has passed away. This needed to be done in order to cover xrays for him under this senior plan.
My kids and myself witnessed a horrible passing of my pup. If I had any idea that his illness was far worse, I would have taken him straight to the ER and got him the attention he needed.
Me and my wife went there the next day to talk to management and they refused to talk to us in person. They said they will call you. To all pet owners please be cautious and read the fine print on everything. I wish this no one.
Is a hard lesson learned.

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
How do I pay for an Optimum Wellness Plan?
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
What kind of appointment do I have?
In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
Optimum Wellness Plans® Virtual Visits: If you have an Optimum Wellness Plan and scheduled a Virtual Visit, you’ll save valuable time and get quality care from the comfort of your home.
