just got home from a great first visit with this Banfield location in Brick. my cat received a microchip + vaccine on top of the general wellness check; in and out in under an hour. I primarily interacted with Chris, who was absolutely wonderful, knowledgeable, and willing to answer every question I had with thoughtful clarity. they also called twice ahead of time to confirm the appointment and answer any preliminary questions I had. I really appreciated everything and would absolutely trust this clinic with my cat going forward.

We have been loyal Banfield clients for years because our dog has been on their wellness plan, but after this experience at the Brick, NJ location, we will be canceling our plan and taking our pets elsewhere. We recently adopted a very scared cat who had barely been eating and would not come out from under the couch. Our original appointment was scheduled for 11:00am Saturday, but Banfield called the day before to move it to 10:45am. That morning, it took me 45 minutes just to safely get my terrified cat out from under the couch. During the process, I was bitten badly enough that I didn’t even have time to properly clean or bandage it before rushing out the door with the cat wrapped in a towel. I arrived at 10:55am — unfortunately 10 minutes late. When I walked in, both receptionists were on the phone and asked me to wait. One eventually asked my cat’s name and then immediately asked if I had called to say I’d be late. Through tears from the pain and stress, I explained that I hadn’t. The vet briefly peeked her head out and shook her head toward the receptionist, and I was then told my appointment had only been held until 11:15 and they had already taken the next patient because they were short staffed. I completely understand offices run behind and staffing issues happen, but the lack of compassion was honestly shocking. When I explained that my newly adopted cat had barely eaten since we brought him home, I was met with attitude and facial expressions that made me feel like I was being judged as a bad pet owner instead of someone desperately trying to help a scared rescue cat. I left crying and ended up taking him to an emergency vet instead. After years of loyalty to Banfield, this experience was deeply disappointing. A little empathy would have gone a long way.

Definitely not using Banfield Bet Hospital in Brick anymore! First appointment was “cancelled” and no one told us until we arrived, they claimed it was a scheduling issue, second appointment they left in the room for almost two hours, blamed the system again. Called last week to have our lab fixed, was told they would call me back in a day or two. Called them again yesterday(over a week later), the person I talked to last week never put a note in his chart that we wanted to have a consultation. Was told they would have a nurse call me back by the end of business day. No one ever called me back. Why should I trust these people with my pet?! I’ve also called numerous times asking for something to help our dog with separation anxiety, was told everytime the vet will call me back and was called back once and was told she would send in a prescription and she never has no matter how many times I’ve called them back!

So frustrating that our dog passed away two weeks after our Optimum Insurance policy was to renew. We are now stuck paying for a policy on a dead dog for an entire year. What a scam! NEVER let them talk you into paying for the Optimum Insurance policy!
