Scheduled a grooming session for my older Dog, medium sized, still active, gentle but suffers from incontinence. She needed a bath and a trim badly which is what we scheduled for. We have family photos tomorrow. At check in, after explaining the incontinence and her demeanor during baths, the manager/groomer says that she can’t do it today. It will take too long and they’re too busy. I drove 35 min outside of our area one way for the appointment, we waited 4 days to get here and were rescheduled 5 more days out, during the week, for an end of day slot, which really didn’t work well for my schedule and shouldn’t have agreed to. When I got home, my wife says this petco did this to our dog once before— canceled mid session because she was too nervous. We’ve never had these issues at the Portsmouth and Dover locations. Just a heads up, you’re better off bathing your dog yourself if you’re wanting to do it at this location.

I am writing to express my frustration with my experience at Petco Grooming today. I had an 8:00 a.m. grooming appointment for my dog, Tucker, and drove 30 minutes to the store. I carefully followed the instructions I was given, including bringing his vaccination records. Tucker is diabetic, and upon arrival I was told that because of his condition, additional documentation or authorization from his veterinarian was required before he could be groomed. To be clear, **I have no objection to this policy.** I completely understand Petco wanting to prioritize an animal’s safety and having appropriate safeguards in place for dogs with medical conditions. My complaint is that this requirement was never communicated to me beforehand. It was not mentioned when the appointment was scheduled, included in the instructions I received, or made clear on the website. I have never been required to provide a veterinary note for Tucker to be groomed elsewhere, so there was no reason I would have known to obtain one. I rearranged my morning, left home early, and made an hour round trip for an appointment that could never have taken place under Petco’s policy—all because Petco failed to communicate its own requirements. What made the experience considerably worse was the response from the staff. There was no meaningful apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience. I was simply told that I would need to reschedule. The attitude felt flippant and dismissive, as though the wasted time and inconvenience were of little concern. Policies designed to protect pets are entirely reasonable. **Policies that customers are expected to somehow know without being told are not.** If Petco requires special documentation for animals with certain medical conditions, that information should be clearly communicated during the booking process so customers have an opportunity to obtain it before arriving. I left today feeling that my time and business were not valued. Based on both the lack of communication and the way the situation was handled, I will not be returning to Petco for grooming services and would not feel comfortable recommending them to others. I hope Petco will address both the communication gap in its booking process and the expectation for staff to respond with basic courtesy when that process fails a customer.

Don't go there. When taking my dog for nail clipping. They move the check-in desk to the door there's a pile of dogs that were not controlled by their owners it was loud unorganized and unprofessional. And because of that circumstance my dog was nervous and they wouldn't clip his nails. A waste of my time. Do yourself a favor go to a regular vet or a groomer. I'll never come back here again.

Zoe took such great care of my pup! He suffers from allergies and it’s always a task bathing him at home, we decided to bring him in for a bath, and nail grooming and he’s never looked better! He had no reaction to any of the products used and was a super happy dog the rest of the day! Could not recommend Zoe more!

Found everything I needed for my picky girl. Was able to make a grooming appointment as well. The ladies working in the grooming department are two of my dog’s favorite people, they are caring and genuinely concerned about my girl’s well being.
