My dog is a sweet AD who has always been gentle and has never hurt anyone. At her last appointment, she was clearly anxious and scared, and she growled at the groomer. Instead of trying to understand the situation, talk with me about what might have triggered her anxiety, or suggest a safer plan for future grooming, I was told they did not want to see her again. I completely understand that groomers need to feel safe and that any sign of fear or stress in a dog should be taken seriously. However, I also believe a grooming salon should be able to communicate with compassion and professionalism, especially with long-time clients and dogs who may simply be having a difficult day. I wish the situation had been handled with more understanding, patience, and willingness to problem-solve. After years of loyalty, it felt hurtful and dismissive to have my dog turned away so quickly instead of being treated as an anxious animal who needed support.
