I cannot speak highly enough about this place. We unfortunately needed their services during a life-threatening GDV in our beloved Rottie. We called ahead and they were ready for us the moment we arrived. Had our boy back in x-ray within minutes. After discovering his condition, we made the decision to have the vet help our boy go peacefully as his condition was more than likely fatal at his age and due to advanced cancer. This night crew took care of our boy and us. We were met with so much compassion and patience. They walked us through the process, presented our options and gave us time with our boy at the end. They gave us that same grace down to the day I came to pick up his ashes after his private cremation. I am so appreciate of the night crew from May 14th. Thank you to the team at Caroline vet Specialists for helping our boy cross over his rainbow bridge peacefully and pain-free.

My veterinary referred me to Specialists. Ashley Kimery is the best. She seems to care about my puppy and recommended some probiotics and etc. She told me there was other test that could be done and didnt think he needed it. I will be back with Nero for his check ups. Ashley was VERY informative on Nero condition. Thank you so much. You made me less worried about my pup.

We had to say goodbye to our precious baby but the vets here were very honest about the prognosis. They treated our baby with love and respect on her final day. Their bedside manner helped our pain on such a terrible day.

Absolutely awful experience at Carolina Veterinary Services. I brought my dog in and had to carry him inside because he was too weak to walk. He was clearly in distress, and instead of showing any urgency or compassion, they took him to the back and then came out demanding a $1,200 deposit before they would even touch him. No real concern, no empathy — just “pay first.” When your pet is in that condition and you’re panicking, that kind of treatment is disgusting. Out of desperation, I paid it. Then they showed me their pricing sheet, and it was beyond ridiculous. $150 just to place a needle — not even an IV, just to place a needle. Their prices are outrageous and honestly feel predatory. It was painfully obvious they cared more about money than actually helping my dog. The most honest person in the building was the receptionist, who flat out said, “Hell no, I can’t afford this place, it’s too expensive.” That alone should tell you everything you need to know. She was also kind enough to recommend better, more reasonably priced vets — which says a lot considering she works there. To make it worse, when the visit was over, they were ready to pull my dog’s IV and send him out before he had even finished the bag of fluids I had already paid for. I had to tell them myself not to remove it and that he would be finishing what I was charged for. Completely unacceptable. Other than the receptionist, the rest of the staff was rude, arrogant, dismissive, and acted like we were an inconvenience. No compassion, no bedside manner, and absolutely no justification for the insane prices. If you love your pet and don’t want to be treated like a walking paycheck, stay far away from Carolina Veterinary and go somewhere else.

I was referred to Carolina Veterinary Specialists by my primary vet for a specific and time-sensitive diagnostic—an ultrasound. My vet called ahead to notify them of our arrival and needs, and I also called while en route. We arrived at 3:00 PM and were not seen until after 6:00 PM. After hours of waiting, I was told they could not perform the ultrasound because the technician had already left at 5:00 PM—something they knew before we arrived but never disclosed. Despite this, they proceeded with other services that did not address the reason for the visit. I was then encouraged to leave my dog over the weekend for an estimated $5,500, even though the required diagnostic could not be performed. When I chose to leave, I was told I could not take my dog home until I paid $1,039.45. The paperwork was presented only after payment. I immediately went to another emergency vet, where they performed an ultrasound and X-ray right away and diagnosed my dog with terminal cancer. This confirmed that the diagnostic I was referred for was both necessary and could have been done that same evening. This experience was not just frustrating—it was a failure in communication and transparency. Had I been told upfront that the ultrasound was unavailable, I would have gone elsewhere immediately. I cannot recommend this facility based on my experience.
