We are accepting new patients now.
If you love your pet and want them to have care when they really need it I would avoid this place at all costs.
I brought my new puppy here for her first puppy visit as an easy and convenient option for care. I was talked into a monthly wellness plan that covered preventative care. Little did I know that Banfield only offers preventative care and if you actually need a vet in an emergency like a vomiting limp puppy who's going neurological, you're out of luck.
I called during this exact situation to find out what to do and the response I got from the reception was "wow yeah that sounds pretty bad, you should get them to a vet, sorry we don't have any appointments today." No recommendations of what to do next, who to call, etc. No vet hopping on the phone to walk me through the traumatic experience. No care whatsoever.
When the emergency vet called Banfield to get my puppies records Banfield hung up on them upon hearing who was calling. I have since been trying to cancel my wellness plan with Banfield due to the utter lack of care in an emergency, only to find that I need to pay hundreds of dollars in order to do so. Namely I have requested to have the DNA test (which I did not ask for) to be removed from my invoice to which the "boss" at Banfield Wilmington has refused to do since its already been sent in. I would have thought that in an effort to make it right after this horrible experience that providing some kind of relief from the high cost of escaping this "Wellness" plan would have been an easy ask. Unfortunately Banfield Wilmington is not willing to budge in this matter.
By the way, Siena the front desk manager is lovely and did do her best but it seems upper management has her hands tied and is only in the business of giving puppies shots and making money. My advice is to find a real vet clinic, this one is basically vets playing pretend until stuff gets real.

🐍UNPROFESSIONAL🐍 No doubt about it; Sienna Intentionally missscheduled a very important appt for my wounded cat. Set us back days. Then trying to schedule 5 days out on top of their mistake. No thank you. Very unprofessional PLACE . Something in my gut (Holy Spirit) was telling me to call the place to confirm right appt day.

I recently took my kitten, Tofu, to Banfield for his kitten wellness visit. During the appointment, everything seemed to go well. The staff was friendly, and I was told that Tofu checked out okay. At the time, neither Tofu nor my other cats showed any signs of fleas or parasites.
Unfortunately, the very next night after his appointment, I noticed fleas on Tofu. I called the Banfield office on Saturday morning and had to leave a voicemail regarding the issue. I also completed the after visit survey and explained what had happened. As of now, I still have not received a call back.
I have been using Banfield for over four years and have generally had a positive experience, so this was especially disappointing. This was my first visit to this particular Banfield location, and I have never experienced an issue like this with Banfield before. I understand that fleas can be difficult to detect, but I was disappointed by the lack of follow up after I reached out with a concern involving my kitten.
We also have another appointment scheduled in about three weeks, but given this experience and the lack of communication, I will be trying the Banfield location in North Myrtle Beach instead, especially since it has a higher overall rating.
I hope this Banfield clinic can improve its follow up and communication with clients, because after more than four years of using the service, I expected better.

This place sucks. The worst banfield I've been to. They don't listen to you- I told them multiple times my cat needs in room care. He's hard to get blood from even when on gabapentin. I know this. I told them this. But he does better when they try to draw blood in room. His old vet was able to do it when they drew blood in room where he could see me. He was still mad but they got it done. This vet did not listen when told repeatedly that he needed to be in room and lo and behold they weren't able to get blood from him. The whole situation was incredibly frustrating because it could've been avoided if they'd simply listened to me. They also don't try to build any good will with the pets before trying to care for them- sorry, I should say they don't try unless it's a dog 🙄

I hate to write this review because Banfield has been great to us for over 10 years. When we moved to Wilmington a few years ago this location was great. We had no problem getting our phone calls answered or getting an appointment. The vets were amazing and so was the front office staff.
In the last 6 months to a year this place has gone downhill significantly, to the point where we cancelled our wellness plan and found a new vet this week.
*Vets & Vet Techs*
The one thing I will say has remained consistent is the quality of the vets and vet techs. They are absolutely amazing. We have a dog with severe anxiety when he's at the vet and one vet tech keeps him with her when he's there for the day. The vets are super knowledgeable and listen to you. That is why I hate writing this review because they deserve to work at an animal hospital that is as good as they are.
*Scheduling an Appointment*
Getting someone on the phone is next to impossible. Any time we need to schedule an appointment we expect to spend over an hour attempting to speak to someone. Every time (no exaggeration), we have to call over and over again because no one answers. You get sent to a voicemail that is full so you can't even leave a message to have them call you back. If someone does answer the phone, they'll immediately put you on hold. Then, if you're lucky, they'll take you off hold before 15 minutes. If they don't take you off hold before 15 minutes the call sends you to voicemail (which is full).
*Online Scheduler*
The person replying to reviews is telling people to use the online scheduler. We've tried that and the staff has literally told us that the online scheduler doesn't work. Any appointment we've scheduled through the scheduler is followed up by a call the DAY BEFORE the appointment telling us it's not a real appointment and we need to reschedule. If you don't answer that phone call, good luck getting in touch with them to reschedule the appointment.
*Waiting Times*
Unless you get an appointment at the very beginning or end of the day, you may sit in the waiting room wondering if they forgot about you. We have waited 40 minutes past our scheduled appointment time.
*Front Desk Staff*
The front desk staff has turned over so many times in the last 6 months to a year which may be where the problem lies. They're rude, don't acknowledge you when you get to the desk, and walk away while checking you in to do something else. The old staff was amazing but they can't hold onto anyone now so it seems like they're always training and don't know how to do anything.
