Please do NOT sign up for the Optimum Wellness Plan! It was marketed to us as a money saver and we only learned the truth when we tried to cancel after we lost out 18 year old pup and they wanted $200 more to cover a dead dog. They were not involved in the euthanasia process btw. We were told all the shots and a dental cleaning were included. Thats true but it doesn't include all the up charges associated with a dental cleaning and if you're not a vet yourself, it's hard to know what to ask ahead about. They also do not let you cancel without finishing your year. This is an important provision that was not explained to us during the very hyped face to face sales pitch but was buried down in multiple layers in the website. There have also been multiple lawsuits over this and a class action. Google it.
This is a corporate thing- the individual vets were ok, but obviously the staff is pushed to sign people up without revealing material parts of the contract.

Nearly impossible to get ahold of this location over the phone. They either don’t answer or put you on hold indefinitely. Also, there have been multiple times where I’ve tried to book online because I can’t get ahold of them on the phone and when I show up for my appointment they tell me they can’t fit me into the schedule because “the online scheduler isn’t always up to date.” I would at least expect a courtesy phone call if your vet is overbooked. The only reason they get 2 stars is because Dr. Apple is amazing but unfortunately I will be finding a new vet when my wellness plan is over.

No one ever answers the phone. They make you wait to be checked in before telling you that the in room appointment you made on the app can’t be honored. You can never get an appointment if your dog is hurt or sick. They are rude and unprofessional. I’m stuck with the optimum plan until March for all 3 of my dogs. ($150) a month wasted) DO NOT GET THE PLAN!!!! Now I have to find a new vet and still pay for the plan. I just moved here from Pa where I didn’t have problems in the last 12 years and the next banfield to my house is almost 2 hours away. I will be reaching out to corporate but after reading the other reviews doesn’t seem to scary for you guys as they obviously don’t do anything to force the store to fix their issues. But I’ll be calling to see if I can cancel my membership as I don’t seem to be able to use it. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves.

If I could leave negative reviews I would, I took my puppy there over the weekend for a UTI that hadn’t gone away that I originally addressed with them and was told I couldn’t be seen until mid July so I had to go somewhere that saw me the next day. The doctor had no clue who she was seeing and called my dog a girl when I feel like you should be reading and reviewing a chart for my puppy and know he is a boy. Then proceeded to tell me that they needed to get urine from him even though I already gave them urine to send off and came in and out of the room probably 3-4 times because she kept forgetting what needed to be done and I was there for almost an hour with no other information than we will call you. I’ve had so many issues with this place, with scheduling and mix up of appointments and being told 3-4 different times each visit that my puppy wouldn’t need anymore shots after the current visit. Anyways, this place is terrible point blank period

So this one hits a little harder. We have a husky who has Cushing's and it has been a very emotional, financial experience. We have been requesting to speak to our vet for over a month and each and every time we call (if they even answer)they either say we will pass the message on and have her call you. We have had to make the unfortunate decision to help her cross. This is not about money this not medicine thats not working this about her dignity as a dog and a family member.
I not sure what has happened to Banfield. Lately their customer care and animal care has significantly declined in the past 6 months to a year if not longer. We have had to switch doctors constantly and when we do get a Doc that is up to date on our situation they either leave for a better situation (can't blame them) or they are just not there. Since we have to switch doctors everything is a blood test or a urine test or something that requires us to come in and be seen. Which means charges,.... they sure do like to nickle and dime their customers to death. We have 5 animals that we bring and we have 5 health plans that we pay for. We would do anything for our animals however we don't get that same feeling from the staff. We have had appointments that we show up for that have been cancelled by Banfield with no notice which is completely unprofessional. We have had appointments that will get cancelled while we have been inside getting ready to be checked in at Banfield. There is a revolving door of staff there, so it's hard to know who we will see. (Even if we request a specific doctor) This is very unfortunate for the customers and for their pets having some sort of consistency has been far and few between for us. The days of having a vet that is familiar with your pets and with you are gone. We have to cater to a corporation that either doesn't care about it's staff so they leave for a better situation or suck it up a deal with it and pay the outrageous prices for care. I'm not saying this is the norm but for us it has been. We have been shopping around for a different vet as of this post. Good luck and buyer beware.

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
How do I pay for an Optimum Wellness Plan?
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
What kind of appointment do I have?
• In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
• Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
