I have an appointment scheduled today for my dog. Early this morning, Banfield called and asked how yesterday’s appointment went — but we didn’t have an appointment yesterday. The receptionist seemed very confused and then blamed me for the mix‑up, which was frustrating.
I’m only writing this review because I’m a member of their highest‑tier wellness plan and expect a basic level of organization and communication. I’m honestly a bit shaken by how often these scheduling and record‑keeping issues happen.
If anyone has suggestions for how to further report concerns about a veterinary business, I’d appreciate it.

My dog had a tooth extraction here on June 20th, and the vet told me she would need a follow‑up in 1–2 weeks. I never received a call, and when I reached out myself weeks later, the receptionist didn’t seem aware the surgery had already happened. I was given conflicting information about whether a follow‑up was needed and was told they “forgot” to schedule it.
I’m on their highest‑tier wellness plan, so the lack of communication and confusion around her care was disappointing.

I normally love Banfield on Creedmoor Road in Raleigh, which is why this experience was disappointing.
On June 11, 2026, I dropped my Cane Corso, Koda, off at 10:30 a.m. for a scheduled visit. The plan was to have his ears checked, get his vaccinations updated, and, if possible, have his nails trimmed, which I added at the last minute. After drop-off, we were placed in a room where the veterinarian went over the plan for the day.
Around 1:00 p.m., I received a call from the front desk to review and confirm the services that had already been discussed, and I agreed to everything.
However, by 2:45 p.m., Koda still was not ready. When I checked in around 3:00 p.m., I was told that the Dr just got out of surgerie and a new system they were still working through. I completely understand that unexpected issues happen and that new systems can create challenges. However, if the schedule is already impacted, it may be better to limit the number of appointments or drop-offs until the process is running smoothly. As a customer, it felt like too many pets were scheduled for the amount of time available.
The most frustrating part was that Koda had been there since 10:30 a.m., spending most of that time in a kennel, and the only service that had been completed was an ear swab, which was done while I was still in the exam room. By the time I arrived around 3:00 p.m. and learned that the rest of his appointment had not been completed, I decided to take him home. As a result, he did not receive any of his scheduled vaccinations or his nail trim.
I try to be understanding because I know veterinary offices can have unexpected situations arise. However, having a dog sit in a kennel for several hours without receiving the services he was scheduled for is frustrating, especially when better communication could have helped manage expectations. If I had known there would be such a delay, I would have gladly scheduled a later drop-off time instead of having him there all day.
I still appreciate the staff and have generally had positive experiences at this location, but I hope improvements can be made regarding scheduling, communication, and keeping pet owners informed when significant delays occur.

Kimberly Donahue, DVM, at Banfield Pet Hospital (Creedmoor) performed the mass removal surgery on my dog, Fiona, and the post-operative care that followed was an unprofessional and "transactional" nightmare.By day 4, the incision looked terrible. I sent photos asking for advice; they never replied. I waited over 24 hours with no word while my dog was in distress.I finally had to schedule an appointment myself for day 6. When I arrived with Fiona—whose incision was clearly opening—the front desk staff asked if I "wanted to trim her nails." It felt incredibly tone-deaf and inappropriate given the medical urgency.Dr. Donahue’s team prescribed antibiotics and Manuka honey, blaming Fiona for licking the stitches. However, there was a very poor explanation of the treatment, and no one warned me that the inflatable collar I was using (which they knew I had) allowed her to reach the area.On day 10, I had a follow-up with Dr. Donahue. She came into the room and touched Fiona's open, raw incision with her bare hands—no gloves. She told me Fiona needed a second surgery because a "pocket" had formed, handed me a quote, and told me they had a spot in 3 days. There was zero empathy for the time and stress I had already spent.I finally took Fiona to Petfolk. They performed her surgery the very same day and were incredibly compassionate and supportive. It was a stark contrast to the cold, transactional treatment at Banfield. It was an awful experience for both Fiona and me.

Do not trust Banfield. They wrap you into a contract that they will not let you cancel or transfer. If you actually add up the amount that they’re charging you, it is more than what you would pay otherwise. There are plenty of more trustworthy independent veterinarians. The reason they can afford to be across the country is because they’re ripping people off.
