I went to this Banfield location to pick up my dog’s monthly heartworm medication. I had already called another Banfield branch earlier that day and was told I could come pick it up later. Since this location was on my route, I stopped in and explained the situation.
Athena Zarate immediately pointed out that my last pickup was in March (it is now May) and seemed annoyed (I was just there a month previously for a comprehensive exam for my dog and saw the doctor). I tried to explain that I may have been a week or two late some months but that my dog had been consistent with the medication recently. Instead of clearly explaining the policy or the medical reason for needing a check-up before dispensing the medication, she simply told me to “have a seat and wait for the doctor.”
I sat and waited while other clients came and went. No one updated me or explained anything. At this point I became visibly frustrated because I was on my very short lunch break and just needed a clear answer: either “Here is your medication” or “You need an appointment for a check first — let’s schedule that.”
I eventually left without the medication and drove to another Banfield location. There, the team professionally explained why the heartworm test is important before continuing the medication, immediately set up an appointment for me, and handled the situation efficiently. The contrast was striking.
As I was leaving, I asked the receptionist for her full name so I could reference her in a review of my treatment after being a patient for many years. When she continued to refuse, I took a quick photo so I could later identify her to the doctor. She reacted strongly, ran to the back pretending to get the doctor, and left me waiting longer unnecessarily
It’s unfortunate that I had to write this review because prior to this incident, I loved going to this location and I love the Doctor there.

First time visit, the Dr seemed like she didn’t want to be there nor deal with my dog. Went back a couple of days later and the other Dr was great. However, the tech took my dog’s pee off the floor via syringe, which was weird. I waited weeks for a callback with results and never got one. I finally called and the guy who got the pee “sample” answered the phone and said he didn’t see any results and that the original sample wasn’t enough. When I explained what happened, he didn’t take any accountability. Instead, he put me on hold and put someone else on the phone who didn’t care. I explained my frustration with the lack of care and customer service and apparently it fell on deaf ears. The lady told me the manager was out of town and would not be back to give me a call until the following Monday… It’s been a week from when I was suppose to get a callback and still haven’t. If you love and value your pets, customer service, and time, never bring them here!

We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
