- SSSkylar SweitzerSep 9, 20255.0I can’t say enough good things about this grooming experience! My dog has a thick double coat that can be a real challenge, but they handled it with absolute skill and care. Not only does my pup look incredible—shiny, fluffy, and so much lighter—but he was also calm and happy afterward, which tells me he was treated with patience and kindness. The attention to detail was amazing (they even got all the undercoat out!), and the whole process was professional from start to finish. I’m so impressed and grateful—we’ve definitely found our go-to groomer!

Frequently Asked Questions About Canine Comfort
What's included in a dog grooming appointment?
A full grooming appointment includes bath, professional-grade shampoo, brush and blow out, ear cleaning, and nail file or grinding. At Canine Comfort, we use gentle handling and high-quality, skin-friendly products suitable for all breeds and coat types in our Hickory facility.
How does de-shedding help my dog's coat?
De-shedding treatments reduce excess shedding and promote healthier coats, especially for double-coated and heavy-shedding breeds. This specialized service keeps your dog more comfortable during seasonal changes and helps keep your home cleaner. It can be added to any grooming appointment.
When should I start puppy training classes?
Puppy classes are ideal for early socialization and should begin as soon as your puppy is ready to learn basic commands and manners. At Canine Comfort in Hickory, our confidence-building classes cover beginner commands, crate comfort, potty basics, and safe play to help puppies grow into well-adjusted adult dogs.
What's the difference between one-on-one training and group obedience?
One-on-one training offers personalized, focused sessions in a calm environment, perfect for specific problem-solving or dogs who need individualized attention. Group obedience classes provide structured learning with other dogs, ideal for socialization and teaching everyday commands like sit, stay, and come using reward-based methods.
How are dogs grouped in daycare for safety?
Dogs are grouped by temperament rather than just size to ensure safe, comfortable play. At Canine Comfort, we separate energetic social butterflies from quieter cuddlers, and our staff is trained to read dog body language. This approach keeps every pup happy and reduces stress throughout the day.
What comes free with dog boarding stays?
Every boarding stay at Canine Comfort includes free daycare, giving your pup plenty of supervised playtime and socialization. This ensures dogs stay active, engaged, and happy during overnight stays, whether you're on vacation or away for work. Our Hickory facility provides safe, cozy accommodations with caring staff.
What are daycare drop-off and pick-up hours?
Canine Comfort offers flexible daycare hours with drop-off starting as early as 7:30 AM and pick-up available until 6:30 PM. These extended hours are designed for working pet parents in Hickory and surrounding areas who need reliable, convenient care throughout the day.
Why is positive training better for dogs?
Positive training uses rewards and encouragement to build trust, confidence, and clear communication without fear or stress. At Canine Comfort, our upbeat, reward-based methods help dogs learn leash manners, polite behavior, and obedience more effectively while strengthening the bond between dog and owner.
Can grooming help with seasonal shedding in North Carolina?
Yes, regular grooming and de-shedding treatments are especially helpful during North Carolina's seasonal changes when dogs shed more heavily. Professional de-shedding keeps coats healthier, reduces loose fur in your home, and helps dogs stay comfortable as temperatures shift throughout the year in Hickory.
What happens during holiday themed daycare days?
Holiday themed daycare days feature festive decorations, photos, games, and special activities that add extra excitement to your dog's routine. These popular events at our Hickory facility create memorable seasonal experiences and often fill quickly, so early sign-up is recommended.
How does temperament-based daycare reduce stress?
Grouping dogs by temperament ensures that play styles match, preventing overwhelming or uncomfortable situations for quieter or anxious dogs. At Canine Comfort, staff monitor behavior closely and adjust groups as needed, creating a calm, enjoyable environment where every dog can thrive at their own comfort level.
What should I bring for my dog's first boarding stay?
Bring your dog's regular food to maintain their diet, any medications with clear instructions, and comfort items like a favorite toy or blanket. At Canine Comfort in Hickory, we provide bedding, bowls, and plenty of supervision, but familiar items help your pup feel more relaxed during their stay.
