My dog got bit by a snake and I quickly noticed signs that he was going down and I needed to do something quickly. I had gone to one urgent vet and they didn’t carry the anti venom. They called around and Carolinas veterinarian specialty in Steele Creek did carry it. I quickly headed to them and they had all the info they needed to get my dog checked in. I was very impressed with how well an emergency vet handles all the chaos. From the front staff to the vet tech and the MD. Thank you for caring for my dog like he is yours.

I’ve had consistently exceptional experiences with Carolina Veterinary Specialists, especially with Dr. Arnold and his surgical team. Their communication is clear, their approach is compassionate, and the level of skill is unmatched. Every visit feels organized and attentive, from intake to discharge. I trust this team fully with my dog’s care and am grateful for the professionalism of both the medical staff and front desk. Highly recommend.

I cannot say enough good things about this emergency vet. I came in after my dog had ingested several tampons, and after a very stressful experience at another ER where we were told the wait would be over 6 hours. The moment I arrived here and explained the situation, the team acted immediately. They didn’t make me wait or go through a long check-in process—they took my dog straight back and treated it as the emergency it was. Within minutes, they induced vomiting and were able to safely remove everything. No unnecessary delays, no extra procedures—just quick, knowledgeable, and efficient care. They truly understood the urgency and handled everything with professionalism and compassion. I am so grateful I trusted my instincts and came here instead. They quite literally made all the difference for my dog. If you’re ever in an emergency situation, this is the place you want to go.

It's funny how this clinic has a 2.6 star rating on Yelp. Google must be their Hollywood page. The medical staff and manager at this location lack the ability to LISTEN and the emotional intelligence to grasp the concept of compassionate care. After you see the age group of the entire staff at the facility, you will see why. They don't seem to listen or take input from clients and operate on their own agenda, which is making money. I took my dog in to get it examined for a possible ingestion of a sock and told them repeatedly, the dog had shown no signs of vomiting or gastrointestinal symptoms prior to being admitted to the hospital. Also stated that the dog only had about a quarter cup of kibble in her sysyem. I was initially checked in by a woman with multiple piercings on her face, to which I had to keep repeating myself. I gave her my phone number several times and she's still ended up typing it wrong in the system. Before bringing my dog to the medical room, I was told they would be performing a series of tests including blood panel and x-rays. From that moment on, their indecisiveness gave me an impression that they were inexperienced, as I was given cryptic information from the multiple medical staff coming in and out of the exam room. In general, they seem to lack the experience of how a professional medical team would conduct business. During the initial exam, they couldn't be bothered showing me any radiographs (x-rays) so that I can see them with my own eyes and make an informed decision. Apparently, my input doesn't matter even though I'm the one who pays the vet bill. According to the hospital manager, Patrick Carnes, this facility is in the habit of giving free x-rays to its patients without any documentation listed on an itemized treatment plan or invoice. WHAT VETERINARIAN CLINIC DO YOU KNOW OFFERS FREE X-RAYS? This is not standard practice for a "professional" vet clinic and incredibly suspect. When I addressed my concerns with the hospital manager, he took 3-4 days to return my call with my initial voicemail and then another week to respond to my second voicemail. Due to his complacency, I filed a formal complaint with the NC Veterinary Board in Raleigh, NC. His medical staff also had to give written statements to the NC Veterinary Board, to further explain their courses of action. The medical staff came to their own decision, that a 1/4 cup of compacted kibble resembled a small mid-length sock in a dog's stomach. Luckily, my vet bill was settled in full with the assistance of a third party. Zero stars ... I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY TO ANYONE.

I had an unexpected situation with my dog, Arlo, and brought him to Carolina Veterinary Specialists, and I truly cannot say enough good things about the care I received. From the moment I arrived, the team was attentive, compassionate, and incredibly reassuring—they took us right back, which meant so much in a stressful moment. They took my concerns seriously right away, kept me informed throughout the entire process, and even provided clear expectations around timing, which I really appreciated. I always knew what was happening and what the next steps would be. They treated Arlo with such kindness and attention, and you can tell this team genuinely cares—not just about the medicine, but about the families attached to their patients. In a situation that could have been overwhelming and stressful, they made me feel supported and confident every step of the way. I am so grateful for their expertise, professionalism, and empathy. I would absolutely trust them again and highly recommend them to anyone needing emergency or specialty veterinary care.
