Doctor Hardy is amazing! He really cares about pets and it shows. I had an issue with my Yorkie and he went above and beyond to help me out, when no one else would. I almost cried I am so thankful for him! Thank you Doctor Hardy!

I’m honestly pretty disappointed with my experience here. I brought my bearded dragon in to get established as a new patient and to address a few concerns I had. The office didn’t feel very clean, including the seating area, which already made me uneasy going in. We also waited around 45 minutes to be seen even though there weren’t many people there. Once we were finally brought back, my dragon was placed in a container that didn’t look clean, which immediately stressed her out even more. I also wasn’t comfortable with how she was handled during the exam, it felt a bit rough and not as gentle as I would expect for a reptile. On top of that, I didn’t feel like my concerns were really taken seriously and a lot of it felt brushed off as normal. The front desk staff were kind, and the prices are reasonable, but based on my experience I personally wouldn’t recommend this place for reptiles. UPDATE: I got a second opinion after being told my bearded dragon was “perfectly fine.” At the new clinic, my concerns were taken seriously and she was started on treatment. I’ve already seen improvement. I felt my concerns were dismissed during my original visit and will be continuing care elsewhere.

They managed to take my snake in on the same day which was great, the wait was a little long but the work was very much worth it! Everyone was kind and understanding which gave the environment a more welcoming energy. Also everything was very nicely priced so i didnt have to break the bank! 10/10 will be visiting again

Disappointed is overall emotion towards this animal hospital. We brought our rabbit in with a growth that needed to be tested to determine what exactly it was. The results were said to take a week to come back and we would receive a call with more information and potential treatment options. After many calls and voicemails (apparent notes left for the vet to get back with us) no communication back. SIX weeks after initial visit the doctor finally got back with us at 9:00 pm and it was cancerous and aggressive. Once we received the copy of the results by email they were dated 7 days after the first appointment. By this time out pet had been seen by the only other vet within hours of our location and it was sadly too late. The time that was taken between the initial appointment led to the growth more than doubling in size to where there were there was no possibility for the previous options to be considered. We understand that there were family circumstances that impacted a member of this hospital. However this is a business with many other employees that can bare the load when lives are in their care.

I used to go to James River animal hospital for my rabbit, and 7 years ago it was good. I had recently stopped going because the front desk lady is always distracted And the doctor was lazy never put in much effort. My rabbit was never cured of his issues anytime I went there. I just went to Best Friends Animal Hospital and turns out my rabbit has kidney stones. The doctor said it’s the biggest one he’s seen. And he’s worried about surgery, with my rabbit being eight years old he might not wake up from anesthesia. I went to James River animal Hospital two years ago for the same symptoms and they didn’t bother to run an x-ray, just gave me UTI medication. And in those two years, my rabbit just kept getting worse and worse. So please pray for my rabbit. His surgery is on Monday. And don’t take your rabbits to James River animal Hospital because they will not cure the problem and your rabbit might end up like mine.
