- PFPeterson Family1 day ago1.0The fish tanks are in HORRIBLE condition and need to be addressed IMMEDIATELY!!! I counted at least 20 dead fish, along with two containers full of dead shrimp. This is completely unacceptable and raises serious animal welfare concerns of cruelty. I watched multiple employees walk right past the tanks without addressing the dead animals. Customers, including young children, are being exposed to this.I have contacted Independence Animal Control and will also be contacting corporate and the Humane Society. Something needs to be done immediately. The aquatics department should be SHUT DOWN until these animals can be properly cared for, The staff also need to be properly trained on how to care for these animals. Other stores are able to keep their aquatics areas clean and their animals properly cared for, so there is no excuse for this. Corporate needs to step in and completely overhaul this store. This is NOT Petco, and the current conditions do not meet Petco standards.
