Banfield Pet Hospital® - Eden Prairie provides quality and attentive health and wellness care for dog, cat and small animal pet patients. Our veterinarians and staff are committed to promoting responsible pet ownership and preventive health care with a full-service medical facility offering general services like routine vaccinations, microchipping, dental and surgical care and more. We are accepting new patients now.
We had a very poor experience taking our cat here. They took him into another room to give him shots and said he was very resistant. They brought him back to me soaked in urine. I have had him vaccinated previously at another vet where they did it in the exam room and he had no problems at all. The appointment took almost two hours where we waited and waited for I’m not sure what. Furthermore, when I had to follow up afterwards, I experienced unprofessional and untrained reception staff. Would not recommend.

Worst experience we have ever had.
There is simply no justification for contacting the wrong emergency number after being clearly instructed who to call. When a pet owner provides specific contact information, that instruction needs to be followed exactly. A quick “sorry” does not undo the panic, confusion, and added distress caused during an already very emotional and stressful situation.
Our dog was taken in because she was very ill, experiencing repeated vomiting and diarrhea. Instead of keeping us properly updated, the clinic reached out to the wrong person despite being given the correct contact details. We were left in the dark for hours with very little communication. During this entire time, our dog remained in a kennel while still actively sick, continuing to vomit and have diarrhea multiple times. We felt powerless, ignored, and as though our concerns were not being taken seriously at a time when our dog needed attention and care.
To make things worse, when we questioned what happened, the front desk staff member was dismissive and unhelpful, stating there was “nothing she could do about it.” Rather than acknowledging the issue or attempting to resolve it, we were essentially brushed off and left feeling like our concerns didn’t matter at all.
A simple apology does not make up for the lack of communication and the stress it caused. When you bring a pet to a veterinary clinic, you are trusting them with a family member. At the very least, that trust requires accurate communication, attention to detail, and compassion during a frightening situation.
We expected basic care and respect. Instead, we were left disappointed and frustrated. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone who expects their instructions to be followed and their pet to be treated with the urgency and care they deserve.

Absolutely the worst experience we’ve ever had. Whether your pet is dying or not, there is absolutely no excuse for calling the wrong emergency contact after being specifically told which number to call. When a family tells you who to contact, you don’t ignore those instructions and then expect “sorry” to fix it. “Sorry” doesn’t undo the stress, panic, and frustration your mistake caused. Even if it wasn’t an emergency, they should still be calling the correct number.
Mind you, our dog was seriously sick, throwing up and having diarrhea, and instead of communicating properly, we were left waiting while the wrong person was being contacted. Then, when we brought up the mistake, the response was basically, “We’re sorry, there’s nothing we can do.” That is completely unacceptable.
If you’re trusted with someone’s beloved pet, communication is one of the most important parts of your job. There is no excuse for ignoring the contact instructions you were given, whether it’s an emergency or not. Our family deserved better, and so did our dog.
I would not recommend bringing your pet here. If this is how they handle communication during one of the most stressful moments a pet owner can experience, I would definitely think twice before trusting them with your pet’s care.

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
How do I pay for an Optimum Wellness Plan?
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
What kind of appointment do I have?
• In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
• Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
• Optimum Wellness Plans® Virtual Visits: If you have an Optimum Wellness Plan and scheduled a Virtual Visit, you’ll save valuable time and get quality care from the comfort of your home.
