Corporate needs to listen to their employees. Axolotl CANNOT be on gravel. They will eat it. They will choke. They will die. They also NEED a chiller. Temps above 70 can seriously, negatively affect their health. Employees are doing their best to keep them healthy, but when corporate won’t allow the basic necessities of the species they’re forcing them to sell there’s only so much they can do. Do better Petco.

If you go here for Dubai roaches or anything other than crickets don’t just don’t because they rarely get fresh ones in and have some dated all the way back to April so they’d be dead by now

I am extremely concerned about the animal care standards at this Petco location. During my visit, I found a lizard on the sales floor that appeared severely underweight, medically compromised, and in poor condition. I ultimately took this animal into my care because I was genuinely concerned about its well-being. My concern is not about the price or discount. My concern is that an animal in this condition appeared to still be available for sale rather than clearly being removed from the sales floor, isolated, and placed under an appropriate veterinary care plan. Communication with the store manager, Mike, was relayed to me through an employee who was texting with him. I was told the animal was receiving daily soaks. However, based on the animal’s condition, what I observed in the store, and information communicated to me by staff, I left with serious concerns about whether appropriate care and husbandry were being provided consistently. I am also concerned about information relayed to me regarding additional animals being kept in the back of the store and whether they are receiving appropriate husbandry. If animals are sick, underweight, or medically compromised, they should not be treated like discounted inventory. They should be receiving proper husbandry, documentation, isolation when appropriate, and timely veterinary care. This experience appears inconsistent with Petco’s own public animal-care commitments, including that animal health and well-being come first, that animals in need of veterinary care should receive timely care, and that animal health is monitored through regular checks. I am also concerned that the store’s veterinary oversight did not appear to result in appropriate intervention for this animal. Based on the condition of the lizard and the information relayed to me, I left with serious concerns about whether this animal was receiving timely and adequate veterinary care while in the store’s custody. Animals deserve better than this. I hope Petco corporate, animal care leadership, the store’s veterinarian, and appropriate outside authorities review this location immediately. Sick or compromised animals deserve care, not a discount sticker. Update: Update: The store replied to my original review asking me to reach out, so I did. The number went directly to the store and I was directed to the manager, Mike. Unfortunately, he was dismissive, said he did not know what Google review I was referring to, and did not seem interested in hearing my concerns or explaining why a visibly sick bearded dragon was still on display. This is the exact same bearded dragon that was shown in another review from about a month ago with the same concerns. That means this was not a sudden issue. This animal appears to have gone roughly a month without proper intervention, husbandry, or care. I was told sick reptiles are allegedly sent to an Apple Valley location for care. If that is Petco’s process, why was this same lizard still on display a month later? Petco publicly states that animals receive regular health checks and that sick or injured animals are cared for under special protocols. Based on this animal’s condition, the prior review, and my conversation with management, that does not appear to have happened here. I have photos/videos of the animal’s condition and the prior review showing this same lizard. This was handled poorly from both an animal care and customer service standpoint.

Yes I can get everything I need for my dog like food etc. When it comes to the products in the store that customers by to use at home this store lacks serious amount of knowledge of their products from the employees. I was in a critical time taking my German Shepherds temperature which IS NOT easy and the thermometer I couldn't get to function and being in this scary time with my sick dog I had to call them for help to explain to me what possibley I could be doing wrong and they had absolutely had no Idea.. I just purchased the thermometer one day ago. I actually waited on the phone for like 4 minutes and time was an essence. Waiting on the phone it said on my phone that the store was not busy at all and trying still to hold my 87 pound dog in place. They didn't even let me ask the vet across the room and to call the manufacturer on the box that it came in. Not to professional at all and absolutely no help. The two employers did not take this situation to serious at all with me waiting on the phone. So Petco, please consider if you can't provide helpful information on your products by your staff, don't sell them. I had no time to lolli gag around
