- JYJared YoungAug 1, 20261.0We booked an appointment online for our dog after recently moving to Maryland. We were later contacted and told the original appointment time would not work and needed to be changed. During that call, we were also told our dog could not be seen because we did not have prior veterinary records. We could not get the records from our out of state Vet as they were closed today. There is a difference between a practice’s policy and Maryland law. If your practice requires records before seeing a new patient, that should be clearly communicated before allowing appointments to be booked. What made the experience more frustrating was receiving a follow-up call that contradicted what we had already been told, leaving us feeling like the original conversation never happened. Clear, honest, and consistent communication goes a long way. Honesty is the best policy.

I brought my pet in for a scheduled appointment ready and willing to pay in full for the services provided. However, Banfields system was down and they could not accept payment that day. The next day I received a phone call asking me to add payment information in the app and to call back when I had done so. I immediately updated the app and called back. A Banfield branded recording was played on loop for 1.5 minutes with no option to leave a message or speak to a person before disconnecting. I called multiple times and this happened every time. I was out of town on business for the next 5 days. I returned to the Banfield office in person exactly 1 week from the date of appointment to pay the bill in person since I was unable to ever reach someone by phone to discover the bill is now in collections and was told the policy is to refer the customer to collections if payment is not collected on the day of the appointment. I will never use any Banfield location ever again since they penalize customers for their poor system. Fix your system!

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
How do I pay for an Optimum Wellness Plan?
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.

• In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
• Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
• Optimum Wellness Plans® Virtual Visits: If you have an Optimum Wellness Plan and scheduled a Virtual Visit, you’ll save valuable time and get quality care from the comfort of your home.
