Have previously used Vetco services in Virginia with good experiences each time, but will probably never use them again after our most recent interaction at this location. Today, experienced extremely rude and unprofessional behavior from Dr. Johnson. We witnessed her drop a medication on the floor of the van and then subsequently administered it to our pet. Immediately after I witnessed her dropping the syringe, I asked "are you really going to administer that?" At which her assistant quickly replied "It is still sterile. We clean the van everyday" Shocked by this blatant disregard for hygiene, I asked if this practice actually met Vetco's accepted standard of care. Instead of offering an apology or acknowledging the wrongdoing, Dr. Johnson stormed over and fiercely defended the action. Her justification? She claimed it was fine because the medication remained inside the syringe and that drawing a new dose would be "wasteful." Let that sink in: a veterinary professional explicitly prioritized overhead costs over the health, safety, and well-being of my pet. Would any human doctor ever use a tongue depressor or a speculum on a patient after dropping it on a dirty floor? Absolutely not. This was absolutely abhorrent and unprofessional behavior from a clinician. I have reached out to Vetco support but have not yet heard back as promised. I hope to receive formal acknowledgment from Vetco that this incident does not reflect their standard of care, along with a written apology from Dr. Johnson.

I have taken my current dog and my dog before him to be vaccinated by Vetco at my local Petco for at least 15 years. Overall I've been happy with their service. The vets are always very nice and willing to answer questions. Vetco provides me with a report of my and my dog's visit promptly. The only improvement I'd like to see made is for them to allow clients to request a phone call or e-mail the day of their appointment rather than a text.
