Never been to this petco till April 2026. I like it. Yes they are short staffed or dont have many people working, which you just have to be a understanding & supportive person, be patient etc. I have not had any issues with anyone, all employees are super friendly. My frogs ive gotten from them are healthy & perfect.

Store was so messy and disorganized on a Sunday afternoon. Walking into the place in such a state felt like I was intruding on a moving operation. I tried to walk around to find what I needed but I was too overwhelmed with the mess. I turned around and went to a competitor instead.

Love the location and the employees. But I don't see the point of having my number If I get absolutely no discounts on anything unless I pay even more money than I already spend just to get a discount..

They have lost a decades long loyal customer due to selling me a contaminated bag of dog food. When we had put it into our vitte vault which was most of the bag, we saw stringy things in the food and thought thats weird, after some google research we found that its a pest infestation that happens in factories. Well i called this petco right away and said what had happened, that we had thrown out the vitte vault with most of the food but we kept the little bit that was left over in the bag so we could show them in order to get refunded. I had asked the gentlemen if we had to get the vitte vault out of the trash to bring that in too and i was told no. I then told him, we have a very busy life, school at night, jobs during the day and a toddler so time is not a luxury we have right now. So i would bring it in as soon as i could, 2 weeks later, my husband took off work early just to bring this food in, that was left outside which further infested it because it was food left outside but there was no chance we were leaving that in our home, but the point being you could still see the infestation that is very easy to tell and is not so uncommon that when i told the gentlemen over the phone about it that he knew exactly what it was. We have been going to this petco for grooming, toys, treats and repeat deliverys for the better part of a decade. We have never returned anything, this was our first time. The GM there said he would not return it because it didnt have much food left and it had already been a couple weeks. I felt that as very unfair because i had called right away about it. We explained the situation and our life and he says, oh i have kids so i get it. But no empathy. If i was a GM, it would seem to me, that you would return and refund the bag of food which is much less then loosing a long standing customer. He doubled down and wouldnt do it. Ive decided to cancel my vital care, repeat deliveries and stop shopping there all together. Ive called corporate as well and they seem to not care about their customers at all. I could maybe understand if we were always returning things and never called or came months later. Anywho, its really not about the measily $60, its about the principle of the matter. I even gave a more gracious and what seemed to me fair option. Just comp a $30 vitte vault since we threw ours out. Nope, still nothing. So this petco has just lost future years of profits over $30. Again, we dont just get food, we get grooming, treats, toys and obviously food. We work with fosters that use you too and i doubt they will use you guys now which again, you've shown that you don't care so its nothing to you. Very poor experience, all over something so small. See ya, petco.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at the Petco grooming salon on Harford Road and would not recommend this location.
My original grooming appointment was confirmed for May 30, 2026. After arriving and waiting approximately 45 minutes, I was informed that the groomer’s dog was sick and that my appointment had to be canceled. While I understand emergencies happen, it was frustrating that I was not notified before arriving at the store.
My appointment was then rescheduled for June 3. Upon arrival, I observed the groomer grooming another dog while talking on her personal cell phone. My dog was checked in, and later I received a call stating that my dog would not come out of the cage.
When I arrived at the salon, I could see the groomer through the window smiling and counting cash. Once she let us in, she did not clearly explain the situation. I removed my dog from the crate because I assumed she needed assistance getting my dog to the grooming table. Only then did she tell my daughter that my dog had “almost bitten” her and that she had three other dogs to groom, so she could not groom my dog.
What concerns me most is that this conversation occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m., which was my scheduled appointment time. If the groomer already had multiple dogs ahead of mine and was unable or unwilling to accommodate my appointment, why was my reservation accepted in the first place?
The entire experience felt unprofessional, poorly communicated, and dismissive of my time. After two appointments and multiple inconveniences, I left without receiving the service that had been scheduled. I would appreciate a review of this situation, including the scheduling practices and customer communication at this location.
I hope Petco takes this feedback seriously so that other customers do not experience the same frustration.
