My dog Bella had a 9am grooming appointment on 6/26/2026. I arrived at 8:50am and the door was locked. A woman walked up to the door with a Petco shirt on, no good morning but it's ok. I asked her if I needed to go through another door, she said no and opened the door for me. I entered the grooming suite and a young lady with dark brown hair was sitting at the desk and I started telling her I was here for a 9am appointment, dog's name is Bella. She said oh, she just walked in (meaning Bella's groomer). I had no idea who she was talking about. The young lady walked out and came back in and said, maybe she went to the bathroom. By this time, I'm a little confused because I've visited a Petco (not this location) in the past. I wasn't aware I had to wait for my dog's groomer. Ok, maybe they conduct check ins or appointments in a different manner at this location. The same woman that let me in the store, walked in the grooming suite and didn't say good morning or introduce herself. She sat down at the desk and asked me if I visited the store in the past. I said no, not this location. I could tell she was not having a good morning, so I decided to lighten the mood and ask if she had a busy day lined up and she said, everyday is busy. I said, well that's a good thing and she said, maybe but sometimes you need a break. I agreed with her and said yes I'm counting down to my vacation in a few weeks. At this point I assumed she is Cindy that was assigned online to groom my dog/Silky Terrier, Bella. She asked what type of cut did I want for Bella and I said a terrier cut. Cindy says well that could mean anything. She proceeds to show me a board with different hair cuts on it and asked what would I like for Bella. In addition, starts telling me a lot of customers don't realize the amount that is cut off, sometimes it's too much or not enough. By this time, a Caucasian woman walks in with a black and white dog, all of a sudden doors are open for this customer (from the original young lady when I first walked in and was sitting at the desk) and she's welcomed with good morning, and rainbows are in the sky, it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Ms. Cindy maybe you were having a crappy morning, maybe you didn't want to see my face, maybe you couldn't be bothered with work today. If any of this was indeed the case, you should have stayed home or slept a little longer. It's unfortunate, because I tried to communicate with you in a happy manner hoping it would lighten your mood. You got a pass without saying good morning when you first approached me at the front door. You got a pass when you didn't say good morning when you entered the grooming suite. You got a pass when you made the comment, a terrier cut can mean anything. My dog is almost 8 years old and I've asked groomers to give her a terrier cut and they understood the request. I refused to give you another pass to groom my baby this morning with an attitude and pay $100 and so I walked out. It's unfortunate, because I just visited the store on Sunday, June 21st for my baby's vaccinations and the folks were very professional and polite. I'll take my hard earned money elsewhere and ensure my baby has a great grooming experience. Mr. Joel D. Anderson check out your stores and the folks representing you. The LaPlata, MD store needs additional customer service training.
