DO NOT BUY FROM HOMESTEAD POODLES. I purchased 2 toy poodles from Linda Sutphin at homestead poodles. I ignored several red flags but we were still grieving the loss of our Riley and wanted another poodle. She wouldn’t let us in the house to see how the puppies were living. She claimed her Doctor said she couldn’t be around people but she did bring the dogs outside for us to see. I believe she had a squalid puppy mill going. She said she bathed them but when we got them in the car they both reeked. Gave them baths as soon as we got them home. The puppies had never seen grass. Linda confirmed that they were raised on concrete. Took them to the vet the following day to find out that one had ear mites and we had to treat both. We did wind up returning one and kept the other. 3 days later Rudy (the one we kept) began having seizures. Took him to emergency. I paid what I could but was still paying the bill from trying to keep Riley alive. Rudy didn’t make it. I won’t post pictures of the seizures because it will break your heart. I called Linda from the emergency vet and she had no compassion and sought to blame me. We had Rudy for less than two weeks. I told Linda that I wasn’t asking for the vet bills, just the fee paid for the puppy. She stopped taking our calls. We now have Cooper from another breeder. We were invited in and enjoyed a very different experience in choosing Cooper. The picture is of sweet little Rudy

I purchased my puppy from Linda Sutphin after waiting over a year. I put a deposit down on an apricot toy poodle, and after waiting for several litters, Linda finally called me to see if I wanted a red toy poodle since she didn’t know how long it would be to get what I wanted. I agreed to take the red one since it was not claimed by anyone. Then she said that reds are more expensive so I owed her a few hundred dollars more. I told her I felt that this wasn’t fair since I was only taking this red one because she didn’t know when she’d have an apricot for me and she had no buyer for this one. She still demanded I pay more than my agreed price, so I did. It was fishy that the puppy reeked and I was not allowed inside to see the conditions she lived in. When I brought my puppy to the vet the next day, she had leptospirosis, an infection from being in unsanitary conditions and drinking contaminated water and required antibiotics and follow up visits. I called Linda to tell her that she should have the others checked because it’s highly contagious. She became very defensive, saying that there’s no way she could be expected to keep the area clean with all the puppies she has there. Also my puppy is supposed to be a toy, and red. She is 13 pounds, and one of her parents was not red, which is what Linda insisted I needed to pay more for. Linda Sutphin is not a healthy breeder. She is also unreasonable and uncaring. I would not buy from her.

We picked up our rust-colored poodle in June '22. He is adorable, very sweet, and so playful. He has zero aggression. It is clear to me that Linda is a responsible breeder who cares just as much about the temperament of her puppies as how they look. Of course, looks wise, our little guy is so cute! He is a little bigger than a typical toy poodle, but we were okay with that, since we already had a 17 pound chihuahua mix (lol). Thanks, Linda! Only cons are 1) the $300 deposit is non-refundable and 2) you don't get to pick your puppy. Linda picks it for you. But overall, everything worked out and we are happy to have our 2 lovely rambunctious dogs!!

We have bought two wonderful toy poodles from Linda in the past 13 years. Out Lulu is an adorable friendly toy. I believe Linda is an excellent breeder. We waited months for both dogs… worth the wait.
