I made an online appointment for Saturday, August 22, for my dog, who was sick and needed urgent care. When we arrived, we were told they could not see us because online appointments are not processed. If online appointments are not processed, why offer that option in the first place? This was extremely frustrating, especially since my dog was sick and needed immediate attention.

Exceptional isn't the correct word for Banfield in Columbia, I would like to add amazing, outstanding, or even extraordinary!! Everyone here is amazing!! Dr. O'Byrne was so patient, helpful and compassionate!! She answered my questions and didn't rush me through the appointment. Carolyn was also so patient and compassionate with me too!!! My dog loved them both!! Charlie and Amanda were so helpful, patient and compassionate as well!! When I called to schedule my dog's shots I met Bayleigh and she is phenomenal as well!! Is this where all of the amazing people hang out? I love it here! I will continue to bring my dog here even if I move. The staff is amazing!! The care is amazing!! It doesn't get any better than this!! I highly recommend Banfield Columbia!! You will not be disappointed at all!!

This has been the worst experience I've ever had with a pet hospital in Howard County, Maryland.
The problems started when I arrived for a scheduled appointment and was told their systems were down, so my dog couldn't be seen. No one notified me beforehand, even though they knew there was an issue. Then, when it was finally time to pay after another visit, their system was down again.
We brought our one-year-old Rottweiler in because he was having problems with his ears. Dr. Obyren diagnosed him with a yeast infection and attempted to administer the medication, but was unsuccessful. We also tried several times at home and were unable to get the medication into his ears.
The next day, I called Banfield to explain that we couldn't administer the medication and asked what other treatment options were available. Another veterinarian returned my call and discussed a few alternatives but said she could not prescribe a different medication because only Dr. Obyren could make that decision. Unfortunately, Dr. Obyren was on vacation. Since we were leaving for vacation before she returned, I asked if the other veterinarian could examine my dog and prescribe an alternative treatment. She refused.
It was frustrating because they should have known that another treatment option would likely have been more appropriate for a large dog like a Rottweiler. I should also mention that the veterinarian my dog saw had graduated only six months earlier.
To make matters worse, because their system was down, I wasn't able to pay on the day of the visit. We then left for our planned vacation. Just seven days after the appointment, I received a message stating that if I didn't make payment that day, my account would be sent to collections. I explained that I would be home in three days and would come into the clinic to pay in person. The employee insisted that wasn't acceptable and demanded payment over the phone.
I do not give my credit card information over the phone, especially with the amount of fraud and identity theft that exists today. That should be a reasonable concern that any business can understand.
Overall, this experience reflected poor communication, inflexible policies, repeated system failures, and a lack of practical solutions for my dog's care. I cannot recommend this location based on my experience.

I lost my rx of gabapentin for 20 ml when I asked to send another one to pharmacy they refused then they ask me to go and pick it up when I arrive they told me all that can give of 0.7 ml one dose because they don’t believe me that I lost it
This is not a control med and the volume was so little that it’s was not even worth to hassle but my dog had anesthesia free teeth cleaning which they refused to do it without cardiologist approval
Another words without selling on me 300 $ procedure , for couple of thousands they refuse to help you . They really don’t care about ur pet at all they care about how to make more money
Big Scam !!! Particarly Columbia Maryland location

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
What kind of appointment do I have?
• In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
• Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
