The vital care rewards are alright though Petco recently changed from a voucher to a points system which seems to have fewer rewards than before/ require more frequent shopping for rewards.

If that's too much to ask then you aren't buying the animal for the right reason in the first place. These places keep their animals in below minimum quality conditions. For instance, gerbils are animals that need a partner for company and at least 6 inches of bedding, and Petco sells them individually (even when they have preexisting bonds) and keep them in 2 inches of bedding at best. Do not buy pets from here, no matter how bad you may feel for them. You may be saving one animal from inhumane treatment, but you are supporting their sale and insuring another animal will take its place to live in those same conditions.
