Vetco isn't any cheaper than an actual vet. I'd be okay with the long waits, poor service, and difficul communication if I could save money, but they charge just as much as the vet hospital down the road. Don't waste your time.
I had multiple visits with Dr. Richard Williams at this Petco location, both for checkups and illness concerns, and consistently left feeling uncomfortable with the level of communication and care.
During these visits, I did not feel respected or supported as a pet owner. There was a tone that came across as dismissive and, at times, judgmental. In one instance, I was given little to no medical guidance—just a general “it is what it is” response—when I was looking for direction and options for my dog’s care.
My dog was elderly and dealing with health issues, and situations like that require not only medical knowledge but also empathy and clear communication. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. My dog went on to live another year after one of those visits, which makes me reflect even more on how things were handled at the time.
I eventually sought care elsewhere and found a completely different experience—compassionate, communicative, and supportive—which made a very difficult time much more manageable.
Now that my dog has passed, I feel it’s important to share this. If you find yourself feeling similarly dismissed or unsupported, I would encourage you to trust your instincts and consider seeking care elsewhere. In my experience, this is not how veterinary care should feel—especially when dealing with an aging or sick pet.

I made an appointment for my dog, but when we arrived, it turned out that the appointment has been cancelled. Why? Apparently they called me to confirm, and when I didn't pick up, they cancelled. No text, no email, no voice message, and nobody told me in advance to expect a phone call. Awesome system, isn't it? You have to sit by your phone and wait like a teenager with a crush.

Cost was high for an ear cleaning. Dr did not have a gracious bed side manner.

I normally leave good reviews for this Vetco But as someone who has been going there for over three years and makes their appointments well in advance the fact that they canceled and would not see me because we were nine minutes late is deplorable. I get that you have a policy that states that but sometimes exceptions need to be made. And the fact that the reason that I was given is that by taking someone late it makes their entire schedule late which then would have them work late and Petco doesn’t pay overtime. That makes me think I need to change even where I not only go for my pets care but also where I buy my pets food. While I love the vital care program today’s experience is going to make me think twice about canceling.
