  I brought my dog in expecting him to be treated with care, compassion, and professionalism. Unfortunately, after his grooming appointment, I discovered that his testicles had been shaved extremely closely. Shortly afterward, the area became very red, irritated, and inflamed, causing him obvious pain and discomfort. It has been heartbreaking to watch him constantly lick the area and struggle with the irritation caused by what should have been a routine grooming appointment. His condition became serious enough that I had no choice but to seek veterinary treatment. After examining him, the veterinarian determined that the area had become irritated to the point that medical intervention was necessary. My dog has now been prescribed antibiotics to treat the condition and prevent further complications. In addition to the emotional distress of seeing my pet suffer, I have also incurred unexpected veterinary expenses that could have been avoided had proper care been taken during his grooming. As a pet owner, I trusted Petco to provide safe, skilled, and compassionate care for my dog. Instead, I am now dealing with the stress of monitoring his recovery, administering medication, and ensuring that the irritation does not worsen. This entire experience has been upsetting and unacceptable. I believe the grooming performed on such a sensitive area was careless and fell below the standard of care I expected from Petco’s grooming staff. Groomers should be properly trained to handle sensitive areas with extreme caution to prevent unnecessary injury or irritation. I respectfully request that Petco conduct a thorough investigation into this incident, review the grooming procedures that were followed during my dog’s appointment, and contact me regarding how you intend to address this matter. I also request reimbursement for the veterinary expenses I have incurred as a direct result of this incident, including the cost of his examination, antibiotics, and any additional treatment required during his recovery. I hope Petco takes this matter seriously. No pet should have to endure unnecessary pain because of preventable mistakes during a grooming appointment. I look forward to your prompt response and to learning what steps will be taken to ensure this does not happen to another family’s beloved pet.
