Everyone is always so friendly, helpful and attentive to my pups. They patiently answer all of my questions and are very accommodating. They are all great but Dr Hatch is fantastic - tells you like it is, and it doesn’t feel like a constant sales pitch. So fortunate they’re in my neighborhood.

Myself and my pet love this location. The parking isn’t the best, but it’s more than worth it for the level of care. I moved from California a few years ago and have sampled a few different Banfields in this area, and won’t be heading anywhere else if I can help it. The doctors spend time with us in the room, and they’re very responsive when I reach out via phone or email.
Thanks, Banfield Team!

If I could give Banfield Pet Hospital in South Boston a galaxy of stars, I would. This team doesn’t just provide veterinary care, they deliver world‑class service with heart, precision, and a level of professionalism that sets the bar for every other pet veterinary practice in the city.
From the moment you walk in, you can feel the difference. The staff is laser‑focused, compassionate, and unbelievably attentive, treating every pet like they’re the most important animal in the building. They don’t rush, they don’t guess, and they don’t cut corners, they listen, they explain, and they make sure you walk out confident and informed.
The way they handle pets is next‑level. You can see the genuine care in how they speak to them, comfort them, and make sure they feel safe. It’s not just medical expertise, it’s emotional intelligence, patience, and kindness all rolled into one.
The doctors and techs here are rock‑solid professionals who know their craft inside and out. They break everything down clearly, answer every question without hesitation, and treat you like a partner in your pet’s health, not just a number on the schedule.
South Boston has a gem with this Banfield location. If you want a team that’s skilled, compassionate, and consistently on top of their game, this is the place. My experience was nothing short of exceptional, and I wouldn’t trust my pet’s care to anyone else.
Five stars doesn’t even begin to cover it. Banfield South Boston is the real deal.

Please, PLEASE, read the negative reviews before taking your pets here. The positive ones (or many of them) are clearly not real. I can not encourage you enough to take your pets elsewhere!
UPDATE: I wanted to provide an update to my previous review.
First, for clarity—my name is Samantha, not Pamela. I spoke with a Banfield Pet Hospital manager on April 25, 2026, during which I was informed that my account had been cancelled and that I would not see any additional charges moving forward.
Despite this, on May 12, 2026, another charge of $69.95 was posted to my account—something we explicitly agreed would no longer occur. This has been extremely frustrating and concerning, especially after receiving confirmation that the account was closed.
Based on this experience, I remain disappointed with Banfield’s handling of my account and the lack of follow‑through after cancellation. I have since filed a dispute with my bank for the unauthorized charge. I wanted to share this update so others are aware of what they may experience when cancelling services with Banfield.
FIRST REVIEW POSTED ON 4/22:
Honestly If I could give a 0 star I would. This practice gave my dog the wrong vaccine, and instead of doing anything to rectify their mistake (like letting me cancel my membership), they told me that this occurs to anyone. They have even put off all my calls, or the practicing manager will call the number you said not to call as it is unavailable at 8:30 PM. Here are some dates of the calls that I have just gotten the response “our manager will call you back” when I’m fact I either did not call (or the call was at 8:30 pm as mentioned before):
- 4/13
- 4/14
- 4/22
Ps: We also called the corporate number and they said that we either have to pay the rest of our year long membership (when their company gave our dog the wrong shot) or call the location where it happened (who is not taking our call). I am not sure, but this company seems to be taking customers money, but not caring about their animals (which is why they are there in the first place )
I also want to add since reading the other negative comments that my dog also had the mystery liver issues that a few other people have also had. I wish I got a second opinion, because we spent a lot of money, when I am now not sure if it truly was an issue. Warning it might be another money grab.
