  It has been consistently uncomfortable to shop at Petco due to the overall attitude displayed by many of the employees. On multiple visits, whether I was there to purchase fish food, aquarium plants, mollies, or cory catfish, I’ve been met with a tone that feels dismissive and unwelcoming rather than helpful or supportive. A customer should feel comfortable asking questions or exploring different options, especially when it comes to caring for animals, yet that has not been my experience. In particular, an employee I believe named Logan has repeatedly come across as negative and unwilling to engage respectfully when I express interest in approaches or recommendations that differ from his own views. Instead of offering guidance in a constructive way, his responses often feel snarky or unnecessarily critical, which creates an environment that discourages customers from returning or feeling confident in their purchases. Additionally, one visit stood out in a particularly concerning way when I came in looking for a female betta fish and noticed that many of them appeared to be either dead or visibly sick, which was upsetting to see and raised concerns about the level of care being provided. It also often feels as though employees are avoiding customers entirely, on multiple occasions when I’ve needed assistance, such as getting help with fish, it suddenly becomes difficult to find anyone available, as if staff have disappeared when help is needed most. On top of this, the checkout process is frequently frustratingly slow, with long waits before an employee is available to assist, adding to the overall negative experience. Situations like these make it difficult to want to continue supporting the business, as both customer service and animal care play a major role in where people choose to spend their money.
