  I recently visited my local Petco to return an item and left more frustrated than when I walked in. The return policy is what it is. I take responsibility for not reading the fine print more carefully beforehand, so I could have planned better. That part is on me. What was completely unacceptable was the interaction with one of the managers. She could clearly see I was frustrated, yet her response felt condescending and antagonistic. Instead of any empathy or professionalism, it seemed like she was deliberately making things worse, as if she took satisfaction in my frustration. Basic customer service decency was missing. A simple acknowledgment of the inconvenience would have gone a long way. Instead, her attitude left me feeling disrespected and unwelcome. This experience was genuinely off-putting and left a bad taste in my mouth. The standard in this specific store is clear, from the cashiers to the managers. I hope this review carries weight and is given proper consideration. When a customer is visibly frustrated, especially when that frustration is not directed at the staff or the store, there is no need to respond defensively or with a condescending jab. This approach makes it seem as though customers are viewed as the enemy rather than valued patrons. One should be able to express dissatisfaction without it being misinterpreted as a personal attack on the employees.
