Our two babies, a 5lb Chihuahua and a 12lb poodle were not cared for. We believe they were given no attention during their overnight stay. Our Chihuahua came home with her feet red and raw with sores which indicates to us that she spent her time scratching at a crate door. Our Poodle came home panting for several hours and drinking water like she had none when boarded. Additionally, when we made the reservation for two rooms, we were quoted $28 for first dog and $20 for second dog. When rung up, we were charged $65, when questioned, the fee totaled $57; we should have only been charged $48 based on the quote. When we went in to pick up our babies, their bedding was filled with urine. Also, the business was warm and smelled of urine in the building. In our opinion, this place needs to be shut down if the owner(s) is not willing to care for the boarded animals in a loving and humane manner. NEVER AGAIN!

They did a Wonderful Groom on my Cat. Very Pleased. Do think the price is a little high but I will go back again.

I am extremely upset about my experience. My dog came home from boarding with visible open wounds where skin was missing, and I was never informed of any incident while I was away or at pickup. It has now been over a week, and I have not received a resolution or accountability. I would never board my dogs here again.Beware of these people!

Frequently Asked Questions About Pawsitively Paradise Pet Resort
What is Bordetella?
Bordetella, commonly referred to as kennel cough or infectious tracheobronchitis, presents as a harsh, hacking cough in dogs. Pet owners often describe the sound as if something is lodged in their dog's throat. The condition resembles a chest cold in humans and typically resolves without intervention in most cases, though it can be serious under certain circumstances. Bordetella frequently occurs alongside other infectious agents, making it a complex of infections rather than a single illness. The condition is not transmissible to humans but can spread among dogs depending on factors such as stress levels, vaccination status, and exposure to other viruses. Additional risk factors include travel-related stress, overcrowding, exposure to heavy dust or cigarette smoke, inadequate ventilation, and changing weather conditions. Two vaccination options are available: injectable and intranasal. The intranasal vaccine requires four days to establish a strong immune response, and some dogs may experience sneezing or nasal discharge in the week following administration.
What if I don't get extra exercises, is my dog ignored?
Your dog receives attention throughout their stay. Our open concept boarding design allows dogs to observe all activities in the facility, including staff members cleaning, walking, watering, and performing other care duties. Our team acknowledges all guests as we pass by their accommodations. If a dog is experiencing difficulty adjusting, we take time to sit with them and offer treats. We are committed to ensuring each stay is enjoyable, as we consider this a vacation for your pet as well.
Why did I get charged for Sunday?
Unlike most boarding facilities that remain closed on Sundays, we provide Sunday evening check-out hours for client convenience. As pet owners ourselves, we recognize your eagerness to reunite with your pet. Our rates are structured based on the day of boarding rather than simply overnight stays. Our staff begins caring for guests early each morning, and before your Sunday evening arrival, your pet will have been fed, exercised, had their kennel cleaned, and in some instances, bathed in preparation for departure. These services are included in your Sunday boarding fee.
What is your taxi service?
We offer pick-up and delivery services for your pets. Our insured and bonded staff can retrieve your pet or return them to your home, whether you are present or not. This service is available for both boarding stays and grooming appointments. Please contact us to discuss how we can assist you with transportation.
What is your minimum age for boarding a dog or cat?
Guest safety is our primary concern. We require dogs to have completed a series of three DHLLP vaccinations and cats to have received two FVRCP vaccinations before staying in our condo area, as they will be exposed to other animals and need protection against airborne diseases. We accept puppies and kittens as young as eight weeks of age in our luxury bedroom suites. These suites provide private accommodations with no exposure to other animals.
Can I take a tour of your resort?
We welcome tours of our facility. We are committed to maintaining a first-class, sanitary environment and employ staff members who participate in ongoing education through professional seminars. We want you to feel confident in selecting our resort for your pet's care. When evaluating boarding facilities, consider the following criteria: the ability to tour all areas during business hours without appointment, cleanliness and odor control, availability of references from current customers or veterinarians, accessible and knowledgeable staff members, required vaccinations from licensed veterinarians, kind and friendly staff who own pets themselves, and clean, spacious, independent kennels and suites.
My pet is thirsty when she comes home from boarding. Doesn't she get water when she's there or won't she drink?
Pets commonly experience increased thirst due to the excitement and stress of reuniting with their families at pickup. This response is natural. During their stay, we carefully monitor water consumption, food intake, and elimination patterns. Similar to the excitement of going home, pets often become very thirsty when first checked in and settling into their accommodations. We address this by providing ample fresh water upon arrival to ensure proper hydration. After approximately thirty minutes, pets typically settle into their routine, become comfortable, and establish normal eating and drinking patterns.
Can I bring my pet's food?
You may provide your pet's food if they require a special diet or if you prefer not to change their regular meals. Our staff members are trained to follow your feeding instructions to ensure your pet maintains their usual diet. We request that you use a sealed container to maintain freshness. For client convenience, we provide Dr. Gary's Best Breed food products to our guests. We stock both canned and dry food in multiple varieties to accommodate various dietary needs. This food is highly digestible, naturally beneficial, and contains no artificial ingredients or byproducts. We are happy to provide a brochure with additional information upon request.
My pet takes medication or is a diabetic, can you care for them?
Our trained staff can accommodate pets with special medical needs. We welcome guests with controlled diabetes, seizures, arthritis, previous surgeries, thyroid conditions, or blindness, and our team has the expertise to provide appropriate care. If your pet's condition is not stable or involves serious health concerns, we recommend care under direct veterinary supervision rather than at our facility, despite our staff's qualifications.
Why does my dog have doggy odor when I pick him up?
We maintain rigorous cleaning standards using hospital-grade disinfectants and take care to keep your pet clean during their stay. However, pets excrete additional oils through their skin when stressed or excited, which produces a distinct odor. When caring for numerous guests, this odor can become more apparent despite our ventilation system. Some individuals may also have heightened sensitivity to pet odors, particularly after being away from their pets. We recommend scheduling a bath before pickup or a grooming appointment. Departing with a clean, soft, and fresh-smelling pet enhances the experience of bringing them home.
